Luke did the last thing I expected him to do. He pulled me into a hug whispering things like 'It's going to be okay and what have you done to yourself'. I've known this boy for one day and he already knows more about me then anyone else.
We sat in the car for half an hour with me crying into his shirt and him just holding me. I started to calm down and wipe away my tears.
He seemed to be in a daze when I looked up at him. I suddenly felt self-conscious.
"Please say something." I was waiting for him to tell me how stupid I was but he didn't.
"Why?" Was all he asked.
"I'm not ready to tell you that." He seemed to respect my decision because he started his car and pulled out of the parking lot.
We sat in silence as he drove us back toward our street. We were parked outside of my house. I guess I didn't expect him to say anything else. I started for the door handle when he stopped me by grabbing onto my forearm.
"Can I see your phone?" I reluctantly gave him my phone. He started tapping away on the screen. I was about to ask him what he was doing when he spoke up. "If you ever need me or have the urge to hurt yourself again. Call me. I'll try to come over."
I figured he was probably putting his number into my phone anyway.
"How do you know I'm actually going to call you every time I get the urge to hurt myself?"
"I don't know. I'm just hoping you will." With that I didn't say another word before getting out of his car and running up the driveway into my house.
Empty as usual. But, right now for the first time I didn't want to be alone.
I wanted to be with Luke.
I've never wanted to be with anyone before like I wanted to be with him.
I waited about 30 minutes before calling him he picked up on the second ring.
"Hello Serena! Are you alright?" He sounded extremely worried. It made me upset to think he was so worried about me.
"Everything's fine. I just don't want to be alone."
"I'll be right over." He hung up the phone and not even two minutes pass before I hear the doorbell go off.
I walked what seemed like a mile to the door I opened it to see him flawlessly standing there. His usual smile wasn't plastered on his face.
I stepped to the side so he could walk in. When he did he went straight to the living room and sat down on the couch.
"Do you want to watch a movie?" I asked the nerves coming back.
"Sure." He gave me a small smile as I went to find a movie for us to watch. I decided on 'The Perks of Being A Wallflower' it is one of my favorite movies.
We sat in silence as we watched the movie. I didn't realize how tired I was until I felt my eyes slowly getting heavier and heavier.
Before I knew it I was enclosed in total darkness.
I woke up to the sound of the opening credits of the movie continuing over and over. I was about to get the remote to shut the TV off when I felt something pulling me back down. I looked beside me to see Luke sleeping peacefully. One of his arms wrapped around my waist. I cursed under my breath when I realized I was laying on his other one. I don't even know how we ended up like this before this I remember being on the opposite end of the couch.
"Luke." I whispered softly. "Luke wake up." I started shaking him gently but nothing was working. I slowly brought my hand to has hair line and ran my fingers through his quiff. He started to squirm a little so I rested my hand softly on his cheek.
He slowly started opening his eyes. He must have realized where he was because he jolted his head up leaving his hands secured around my waist. He looked down at me smiling.
"You feel asleep." He started to laugh.
"Yeah so did you." I replied beginning to join him in his fit of laughter. There was this weird feeling like I've known Luke for more then just a day. It feels as if I've known him for years. I guess you could say I'm comfortable around him.
After a few short moments our laughter died down and he just stared down at me.
"Why does it feel as if I've known you my whole life?" He asked suddenly serious again.
"I don't know." I couldn't help but stare at the beautiful human being in front of me. Our eyes locked for what seemed like an eternity. I
wanted to kiss him. But I couldn't I can't just kiss somebody I didn't know. I shyly looked away realizing how close our faces have gotten. That's when he asked the question I didn't expect him to ask.
"Where's your parents?" I didn't blame Luke for asking I would've asked to if I were in his position.
"My moms always on business trips and my dad... He's umm... He died 3 years ago in a car accident." I avoided his gave once I finished telling him about my parents.
"Serena, I'm so sorry I didn't know."
"It's okay Luke." I gave him a small smile for reassurance. He gave me smaller smile in return. We laid for another hour in the same position we woke up in neither of us wanting to say or do anything. I made the first move by grabbing my phone off the table to check the time. I noticed *6 missed calls and 4 messages* there was no doubt that none of those were from my mother so I ignored them andcontinued to check the time 10:46 p.m.
"Shouldn't you get home your parents are probably worried." He looked confused for a second before nodding his head in response.
With that he reluctantly removed his arm from my waist. We quietly walked to the door. He put his hand on the handle about to walk out until he turned around once again.
"Can I see you tomorrow?" I giggled at his nervousness again today like when he asked whether or not I had a boyfriend. I gave him a smile and replied.
"Of course." With that he gave me a quick hug while whispering in my ear "Don't forget to call me if anything I mean anything happens or is about to happen." I gave him a small nod I response. "Promise?"
"I promise." I whispered back into his ear. I knew I should have mentally crossed my fingers but, I didn't because Luke I knew was the one person who could come the closest to almost helping me.
He finally let go and grabbed the door knob again this time he actually opened the door and left.
I walked up the stairs through the hollow house and into my room. I changed into a tank top with shorts before walking to the window and finding Luke already staring out his we gave each other a smile and wave before shutting off our lights and laying in bed.
I just laid there staring at the ceiling thinking about tomorrow night. I was going to see Luke Hemmings the guy next door again.
