I take the chocolate chip cookies into the living room where the guys are and sit them on the table.
"What are you up to?" Niall asks looking at me.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"You always bake chocolate chip cookies and bring them to me when you're about to tell me something." Niall says.
"Niall, you don't need to freak out." I warn him.
The guys look at me.
"Skyla has a date for tomorrow night." I say.
His eyes widen and the guys turn to look at Niall.
"Niall?" I ask concerned at how he looks like a statue now.
"A date?" He asks.
"Yes." I say with a smile.
"With who?" He asks.
"Cody Stevens, a new boy from School." I say.
Niall frowns. "Tessa."
"Niall Horan." I say with a warning glance. "This is your daughters crush. He asked her out and you knew that this would be happening sooner or later."
"But now?" He asks.
"What do you mean by 'now'?" I ask.
"She's just grown up on us Tess." Niall says leaning forward. "I mean yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital and now she's going on her first date."
The guys smile.
"Niall, she will always be our little girl... But, she has to spread her wings and fly sometime. If we hold her back, she'll hate us for it, we need to be reasonable with her and respect her wishes. I know you don't want to hear that, but Skyla, Skyla has dreams and goals for herself and we need to be there to help her along the way."
Niall looks up at me and smiles. "I'm so glad I married you."
He gets up, walks over and kisses me.
"We will be meeting this boy, right?" Niall asks placing his hands on my hips.
"Yes, we will be." I say with a smile. "Now, go sit down and hang out with the guys. It's not everyday they come over."
He smiles and goes to sit back down while I go upstairs.
I knock on Skyla's door.
"Come in." She says.
I find her laying on her bed, doing her homework.
For a second, I know what Niall feel's like... I felt that way when she turned thirteen.
I breathe and then continue on.
"I talked to your Dad." I say as I sit down on her bed.
She smiles. "And?"
"And, he is willing to let you date this boy... But we are going to meet him first." I say.
She nods her head. "Understandable."
I look into her beautiful eyes and see my five year old again.
"What is it Mom?" She asks.
"You." I say. "You're growing up on your Dad and I Skyla."
She smiles and sits up.
"I remember the day we brought you home, and now you're going on your first date." I say. "It's a funny thing cuz that's exactly what your Dad just said five minutes ago."
She laughs a little.
"You'll be sixteen soon and then in a few years you'll be moving out." I say.
Tears fill my eyes and I smile at her.
"I'll always be your little girl Mom." She says hugging me.
I hug her back tightly. "I know, I know, but it's hard letting your child go."
We pull away and she smiles.
"Someday, you'll understand." I say wiping my tears and smiling.
"I love you Mom, forever and always." She says.
"I love you too sweetheart, forever and always." I say.
I leave her bedroom and go to mine. Sitting down with her baby book and then the scrapbook I made of her early childhood. She doesn't know it, but for her eighteenth birthday, I'm making her a scrapbook from her birth until then.
I smile as I see how my baby has grown.
I put it back in it's place and brace myself for the next few years to come, but the thing is, I don't know if I can...
