I was chopping up lettuce to make a salad when all of the girls walked through the door.
It had been a week since Skyla's bullying problems, had been solved.
As they all came into the kitchen I put some chocolate chip cookies and milk on the table for them.
"How was School?" I ask.
"Great!" Isla and Skyla both say together.
I laugh, then look at Bella, who is being very silent.
"Was School good for you Bella?" I ask.
It seems to snap her out of her thoughts because she looks up, suddenly alert.
"U-uh, y-yeah. It was ok." She says.
I look at her. "Bella, did something happen? We've already solved Skyla's problems, now what's up with you?"
"Can we talk, in private?" She asks.
"Sure honey." I say. "Girls, could you go upstairs and do your homework?"
They nod and leave. "Thank you."
I sit down at the table. "Ok, speak." I say.
"Well, my teacher Mr. Harkson, he's been kinda teasing me."
I look at her seriously.
"He's been calling me names, some not so good." She says.
"Like what?" I ask.
" 'Princess', 'Mrs. Spoiled', and his personal favorite, 'Spoiled Little Brat'."
My eyes widen at the last one. "Bella, you're kidding."
"No, he calls me every one of those names every day." She says.
"Bella, tomorrow we're going to talk to your principle about it." I say.
"Ok." She says.
"Now, go do your homework ok?"
"Ok, thanks Mom."
"No problem honey." I say.
She heads up the stairs to do her homework and Niall comes into the kitchen.
"What's up?" He asks.
"Bella's having problems with her teacher." I say finishing the lettuce.
"Huh?" He asks.
"Yep, her teacher, Mr. Harkson, has been calling her names." I say. " 'Princess', 'Mrs. Spoiled', and 'Spoiled Little Brat'"
"He called her what?!?!?" Niall asks.
"Yeah, we're going tomorrow to talk to the principle." I say.
"I'm with you on that. I don't want him even near her anymore." He says.
"Me either." I say.
I think about everything that's happened this year.
"Niall, we've never had this many problems before, why now?" I ask.
"There is a reason for everything and we shouldn't question it. It'll be ok, don't worry Tessa. I'm here, and I'm not gonna leave you, my little Tennessee girl."
I laugh at him.
He always knows how to make me feel better and I love him for it. He doesn't know how much I appreciate it.
