Groggily, Sam woke up. After he woke up he tried to sit up. That was a huge mistake. He felt a sharp pain in his abdomen, and he cried out in pain. The nurses ran in to check on him.
"How are you feeling?" Asked the nurse with her hair dyed a dark yet bright purple.
"I...I'm fine. I guess, I mean I just woke up and tried to sit up. That was a mistake because my abdomen is throbbing now.
"Well, you do know that you got stabbed and you almost died." Stated, a nurse with long brown hair.
“Yes, I did know that. I could feel the throbbing pain in my abdomen." Sam says sarcastically.
"Oh! The other nurse told me that I was to tell you that your girlfriend, the one who called 9-1-1, is in the waiting room. DO you want me to send her in?" She asks kindly.
"Yeah, go on ahead," Sam says aloud. But in his head, he was wondering why in the heck this mystery girl had claimed to be his girlfriend. Sure she had pretty eyes and even prettier hair, but what does she want with him?
She walked in, and she looked like she hadn't slept in days. Her hair was a tangle, her clothes were rumpled, and she had very dark circles under her eyes.
"Man, you look like you haven't slept in a few days," Sam said to her as she sat down next to him.
"Yeah, I know. I was waiting on your butt to wake up. You were unconscious for three days." She explained to him.
"Well, I am sorry for me being the reason that you are sleep deprived."
"It's fine. It's not every day that I find someone bleeding out in the parking lot of a motel."
"I would hope that that wouldn't happen on a daily basis. That would be kind of depressing."
"Yes it would be, now you need to get some rest if you are going to get better."
"But I am not tired at all!" Sam argued.
"Yes, you are. You are starting to snooze off, and plus I would like to get some coffee before the cafeteria closes for the night. So shut up and go to sleep." She argued back, and she won. Sam fell asleep in about five minutes, and he didn't wake up until the next morning.
"About time you wake up. I was afraid that you were dead for a minute there." The girl jokingly said.
"Thank you so much for being worried about my well being. Oh! I never did ask. What's your name? You know that mine is Sam because I told you that before I lost consciousness. I never did learn your name, though. What is it?" Sam asked wonderingly.
"My name is Isabella, but I normally go by Bella," Bella explained to Sam.
"That is a pretty name. Is it from one of your late relatives?"
"I don't know."
"What do you mean, you don't know?"
"I mean, I don't know. I don't know because I don't know any of my family members other than my mom and my dad."
"Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to intrude or make you feel like crap."
"It's fine. I hardly talk to my parents, and if any of my relatives are or were like my parents, then I would definitely not want to meet them."
"Your parents that bad huh?"
"Yes, but I moved out when I was seventeen."
"Huh. My dad kicked me out a few days after my eighteenth birthday."
"Well, at least you got to live in a house for eighteen years."
"Yeah, I did get to, but it was really crappy. My dad, Roger, he... uh... never mind."
"What? Tell me. You can trust me."
"Oh, really? I just met you not too long ago. And I don't know if I can trust you yet."
"OH PLEASE! I saved your life after you got stabbed, like an idiot." Bella argued.
"Okay, I am sorry for getting stabbed. I am also sorry that I got stabbed right as you happened to be walking by." Sam argued back.
"Whatever. I am going to get some food, and when I get back you can tell me about your dad. Okay?"
"I don't want to, though," Sam whispers under his breath.
"Okay! I am ready to lea-," Bella started to say when she realized that Sam was dead asleep. She didn't want to wake him up, so she let him sleep and she left.
Sam opens his eyes as soon as he hears the door close. He sits up and stretches his arms. He is glad that he is healing okay because that means that he will be out of the hospital in about two or three days.
"Now that she fell for that, I can get up and walk around for a little bit," Sam says slyly.
The nurse comes in a little bit later, and she helps him out of the hospital bed.
"There, now you should be able to walk around with minimal drafts." The nurse said only half joking.
"Thanks. Also, I was wondering if you could get me something?" Sam asked the nurse kindly.
"Sure, what can I get for ya?"
"This might sound weird, but I was wondering if you could get me some information on Bella possibly?"
"Um, yeah sure. I guess I could try. I will try to find everything on her that I can. Good or bad. I will give it to you tomorrow at noon. Is that okay?"
"Yeah, but could you make sure that Bella isn't in here? I don't want her to know that I am getting information on her."
"Okay, but why would you need information if you guys are dating? Wouldn't you guys have talked about stuff a lot?" The nurse asks, suddenly curious.
"Yeah, but I have a feeling that she isn't telling me everything. You know, I just have a feeling that she is hiding something from me." Sam says after a moment of trying to come up with a good excuse.
