Hahhaa, I didn’t upload this supplement late at all >.> (it’s only 2 days late okay, shh).
Time for the most popular airing K-Drama!
There are many airing K-Dramas at any one time in this world, and even the most seasoned of viewers will find it hard to keep up with them all. This also means it’ll be a really hard choice to pick the top currently airing drama…
BUT, I have a solution! I’ll give you my favourite currently airing drama and I’ll give you the most popular airing drama of that day as according to the TSN Media Databases (sourced from Asianwiki.com)
First off, my favourite drama!
The Village: Achiara’s Secret (마을 - 아치아라의 비밀)
Airs at 21:55 beginning October 7th. It currently has under ten episodes released and will run for 16 episodes. It airs on both Wednesdays and Thursdays.
This drama combines a ton of mystery and paranormal elements into this creepy k-drama – a much welcomed change from the sometimes tiring influx of romantic comedy dramas. The Village follows the character So-Yoon (played by Moon Geun-Young) as she returns to Korea after living in Canada for most of her childhood when her entire family died in a car crash. Her return to Korea is prompted by the death of her Grandmother – the woman who relocated her to Canada in the first place.
She chooses the village of Achiara after she discovers a few links to her a family and a job opening as an English teacher. Quickly, she’s hired for the job.
So far, the main mystery hasn’t unraveled, but queue us multiple episodes in, we’ve encountered a fair amount of grizzly murders and potential suspects. This one keeps you guessing and hopefully will to the end.
What makes this such an underrated drama is the fact it hasn’t placed consistently within the top 20 dramas at all – only doing so three times maximum within it’s slot!
I reckon a lot of you on movellas would like this drama – so go watch it!
ANNNND, THE MOST POPULAR OVERALL OF WHICH THIS MAGAZINE IS NAMED AFTER –
She Was Pretty (그녀는 예뻤다)
This drama began airing September 16th in the 21:55 slot on Wednesdays and Thursdays (coincidentally the same as the drama before, The Village). It started off pretty rough only just making it into the top 20 but all recent episodes have slid their way into the 2nd most popular slot.
The drama follows off the back of a childhood romance between Kim Hye Jin (Hwang Jeun-Eum) and Ji Sung Joon (Park Seo-Joon). As a child, Sung Joon was fat and considered ugly, Hye Jin was beautiful and considered pretty. As they both go off in separate directions, they naturally never see each other for multiple years until Sung Joon and Hye Jin swap places, losing their beauty and losing their fat. Hye Jin has now inherited her father Rosacea and has given up on her unruly curly hair and let it wild. Sung Joon has lost his fat after he moved to America and is now a successful businessman with a secret.
As Hye Jin’s life becomes as unsuccessful as her beauty, she suddenly lands a job in a magazine company. Through a matter of coincidences, Sung Joon returns to Korea and requests to see her but at the time she was too ashamed of what she had become and sent her beautiful friend, Min Ha Ri, in her place. The situation appears over, until Hye Jin is forced to work in the main magazine department (the magazine named ‘MOST’) as a journalist and discovers the deputy editor is none other than Sung Joon – who himself has just landed himself the job upon his return to Korea.
In this comedy you watch Hye Jin unravel and then wrap herself up again in trying to hide her identity behind her common name and a façade of lies. Of course, this wouldn’t last long.
This drama is perfect for those who enjoyed the classic in the last issue of MOST Magazine.
