25. 25

After ten hours on the plane the lads got up to stretch their legs; they walked around the cabin up the two aisles this was certainly a tiring experience as the three men used the toilet before returning to their seats. Eleanor had used the freedom to go into her hand luggage and get out a book to read whilst the lads did the crossword puzzles from the book their father had bought at the duty free shop. Two hours later and they were all asleep but Robert junior felt good because Eleanor was resting her head on his shoulder.

It was now 1pm the next day and the cabin was light again. When Eleanor awoke she realised that she was resting her head on Roberts shoulder and apologised.

“I actually enjoyed it Robert laughed; I would rather it being you, rather than my brother.”

It wasn’t long before they were serving meals and drinks again so they all prepared the tables again Eleanor and Robert junior were chatting away as the attendant served them their meal; There was a little pang of jealousy between James as he looked on at his brother until a young girl at the side of him dropped a napkin on the floor and he picked it up. They struck up a conversation after he had introduced himself which lasted until the plane landed in Singapore. By then he had asked her to dinner with him when they reached Queensland. She gave him the number of the hotel she was staying at.

Her name was Becky Stewart and she was from Edinburgh in Scotland.

What a bonus he thought.

James found out that she was back packing and he asked her if she fancied tagging along with him through Australia as they were going on a sort of adventure.

“She agreed; she hoped to get to Wellington the capital of New Zealand for Christmas. The twenty one year old was studying at Edinburgh University and when she told him it was history James closed his eyes and said a silent prayer.

“Well Miss Stewart that’s where I can help you; you see I am a history teacher in Balornock Primary School.”

“I graduated two years ago; what are your plans once you graduate.

“I will most probably end up teaching but I am interested in finding out about lost civilisations like the Aztecs and the Incas.

“Well I will see what we can do to help you with your dissertation.

“Thank you James or do you like Jim?

“I answer to anything; what do you prefer?

“I will call you Jim.” James sounds a bit stuck up.”

“Hardly; coming from the Red Road Tower block in Glasgow.”

“My type of guy then she laughed.”

The captain announced that the plane was coming in to land at Singapore in ten minutes and that the passengers should fasten there seatbelts.

The plane banked to the left and the landing gear was deployed. Looking down they could see the bright coloured lights below as the plane lost altitude then came to land at Seletar International Airport.
