4. A Facade

I look into the cloudy window and see a shadow. I move closer and the figure becomes clearer. A hazy body appears. It moves another step closer and its facial features show. The mortal was very similar to myself. Her uptight body stared at something with a facial expression I can relate to very we’ll. A mien of longing. I take another step to get a better look of what had intrigued her mind. I spot two girls nonchalantly talking emphatically. Encircled. I glance back at my strange, desolate clone. She seemed so helpless and powerless. I reached to touch the window and my hand slid through the transparent camouflage and my replica turns and looks right into my eyes. She reaches for my hand and our fingertips touch. I blinked and a devilish grin covers the inconsolable gloomy face I had fell in love with and instantaneously she pulled me into the glass and I fall into nothing but a colorless, pristine emptiness. The farther I fell the more defiled it became until all I’m surrounded by is darkness. I frantically grab for something, anything and my hands clasped onto something rough yet soft. A slender object like a string. Am I holding on to a string? My very life depended on this insufficient cord that could snap any second and end everything.I look into the cloudy window and see a shadow. I move closer and the figure becomes clearer.
