The muggleborn- May Collins

A story about the muggleborn May Collins and her adventures at Hogwarts with her best friends Lily and Taylor.

1. chapter 1

I'm just a normal girl. Ten years old and homeschooled. My eleventh birthday is coming up but I have no friends to celebrate it with so I'm staying home with my Mum and Dad.

I woke up to a large 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY!' sign on the wall across from my bed. When I got up from bed, the smell of my favourite breakfast, scrambled eggs and bacon, wafted towards me. Just as I got to the top of the stairs, I heard a knock. 'I'll get it!' I yelled as I ran down the stairs, almost tripping on my pyjamas. I opened the door to see a tall, old man wearing half-moon spectacles. 'You must be May Collins,' he said. 'I'm Albus Dumbledore. May I come in?'

I led Albus Dumbledore to our living room and my parents followed. 'Have a seat,' said Mum. Dumbledore peered at us over the top of his glasses and gave me a letter sealed with a red, wax crest. I opened it and it read:

Dear Ms. Collins

We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Term begins on September 1st and you will find the Hogwarts Express ticket enclosed, as well as a list of school supplies you will find in Diagonal Alley. We will expect your owl no later than July 30th.

Minerva McGonagall, deputy headmistress.

'What does this mean?' I asked Dumbledore. All he said was 'Your a witch, May.'

'But I can't be a... a witch,' I said, thinking it was some sort of joke.

'But have you ever made anything happen that you can't explain?' He asked.

'Actually, I have,' I said. 'If I stare at something hard enough it will move, and just by holding something broken I can mend it.'

'It's because you are magic,' he said.

'Would you like to go to this school May?' my mum asked. I forgot she was there.

'Yes. Yes I would' I answered. Dumbledore whistled and a large, tawny owl flew in through the open window. He attached a note to its leg and flew off. 'I really have to go now,' said Dumbledore, 'see you at Hogwarts.'

Mum dropped me off at King's Cross station. 'Bye!' she called from the car. I found a trolley and put my trunk on it. I finally might be able to make friends! I walked along until I saw platform nine. This wasn't the station. I looked at the ticket again and saw it said platform 9/34. But there's no such thing as Platform 9/34. I checked around the station but there was no 9/34! I went back to platform nine and sat down at a bench. I felt a tear roll down my cheek. There was no way I was going to make friends now. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a girl walking towards me. I didn't want to show her I was crying but it was too late. She saw my face and say down next to me. 'What's wrong?' she asked.

'I'm supposed to get on platform 9/34 but there is none and both my parents are at work!' I cried.

'It's okay,' she said. I'll help you. I know where it is.'

'Thanks,' I said, wiping a tear from my cheek.

'No problem. I'm Lily by the way. Lily Swift'
