7. Chapter 7

When you got to the house nobody was there. You sighed a sigh of relief and went into the house. You quickly walked to your room, wanting to get your stuff and get out of there as quickly as possible. You grabbed another bag and put it on the bed. You grabbed about six shirts, a couple of flannels, six pairs of pants, some bras, and some underwear and socks. You layed them all on the bed. You also grabbed your copy of Between Shades of Gray, a Black Veil Brides cd, a My Chemical Romance cd, and your Avengers movies. You also grabbed your hairspray, hair straightener, brush, and wallet. You stuffed them all into the bag. Surprisingly it all fit.

You were just about to put the bag on and leave when you heard the front door open. You froze. “I know you’re here. The neighbor called me and told me they saw you come in.” Dad called. Tears came to your eyes and you hurried and put your bag on and ran out of the room to the door, thinking you maybe had a chance of escape. As you were running past he had grabbed your wrist. You looked at him with fear and tried to break free from his grasp. It didn’t work. He threw you to the ground and spots covered your vision. He kicked you in the side and you nearly passed out. You knew how to escape.

You let your head hit the ground and pretended you were unconscious. It worked. He walked away and went upstairs to go and get something. This was your chance. You quickly got up. Spots danced into your vision and you had to stand there for a moment to make sure you didn’t pass out. After you had became better you opened the door and ran out. Running was difficult. There was a pain in your side where he kicked you. You heard running far behind you and shouts, but you knew he could never catch up to you. You took a turn and ran through alleys. Once you had gotten a mile away you were lightheaded and the pain in your side had gotten more intense.

You took out your phone and called Eli. Even though you were only a couple blocks away you couldn’t continue. He picked up right away. “Are you okay?” he asked worriedly over the phone. You sat down along the fence behind one of the houses.

“No. I need you to come and get me… I am behind the  yellow house a couple blocks away from the house. The one with the bright blue fence?” You said as you panted.

“Yeah… what’s wrong?” he asked worriedly.

“I just- please hurry.” You said quickly. You heard shuffling in the background.

“I’m on my way.”

“Okay. Thankyou.” You said and then you hung up. You put your phone in your coat pocket. In less than five minutes he was running up to you.

He kneeled down next to you and quickly looked you over. You had blood streaming down your face from your nose. You had gotten a nosebleed from being slammed down on the floor. He couldn’t see it yet, but your stomach was badly bruised. When your Dad grabbed you by the wrist and slammed you to the floor he injured your wrist. “What happened?” he asked quietly.

“Him.” was all you could reply with. Eli looked angry and then turned to you.

“Can you walk?”

You looked down at yourself. You shook your head. Tears came to your eyes. He came closer to you and wrapped his arms around you so he could carry you. You winced. “I know this is going to hurt, but you can’t walk. So I have to carry you. I am so sorry…” He said. You nodded your head and he picked you up, the bag still on your back. Even though you were as tall as him you were extremely easy to carry.

He carried you home and set you gently on the couch. He walked over to the door after he set you down and locked it. When he was finished he walked over to you and knelt down next to you. “I’m so sorry… I should have gone with you.” he said sadly.

You looked down at your feet. “It wasn’t your fault. It was mine. I was stupid and didn’t leave fast enough.” You said while a tear rolled down your face. He lightly lifted your head so you were looking at him.

“Don’t blame yourself. It was not your fault. The only person who caused this was him.” He said looking into your eyes. “So, did you grab everything you wanted?” he asked trying to change the subject.

“Yeah. I grabbed more shirts and more pants. I also grabbed my cds and Avengers movies along with the book.” you said.

“You brought the book?” He asked smiling.

“Yeah.” You smiled weakly. You leaned forward so he could grab the bag from your back. He took the bag off, but accidently bumped your wrist. You whimpered and pulled your arm away. He carefully took the bag off and set it on the floor. He then turned his attention to you.

“What did he do to you?” he asked scarily calmly.

“He… he grabbed me by the wrist… a-and then h-he threw me down onto the f-floor… and then he k-kicked m-me…” You said shakily. You carefully lifted your jacket sleeve. You grimaced, but continued. When you saw it you could see where he grabbed your hand. There were red marks and slight bruises around it. You lightly touched it and quickly pulled your good hand away. It felt like it was fractured. You set your hand by your side and regretted it instantly. Pain shot up your side as soon as your hand touched it.

Eli looked at you with alarm. “Did he kick you in the stomach…?” he asked quietly. You nodded in response. You told him to look the other way. When he was looking away you lifted your shirt exposing your side. Your whole side was covered in dark bruises. They stretched from your hip up to your bra.

Still facing the other way Eli asked, “How bad is it?” You didn’t reply so he turned around. He quickly saw the bruises before you pulled your shirt down. “I-I’m sorry…” he said quietly. You nodded your head and gently laid back against the couch.

He got up and went to the kitchen and grabbed an ice pack. He came back and handed it to you. You held it against your wrist. “Do you want me to get you something to eat?” Eli asked wanting to be able to help in every way possible. You nodded and he went out to make some eggs.

“Why me?” you whispered to yourself.

He finished making the eggs and came out and handed a plate of eggs to you. “Thank you.” You said quietly.

“Your welcome.” he said in reply. You ate your eggs contently.

“Eli? Can you grab me my sketchbook? It’s in the bag from yesterday.”

“Yeah.” He said back. He got up and grabbed it for you along with your pencil bag. You took them nicely and thanked him. Luckily your right hand was not the hurt one, so you could still draw.

You pulled out a black charcoal pencil and turned to an empty page. You started to draw two wings on the page. Then you added a body in between the two wings. It was a female body. When you got to the hair you colored darker showing that the hair was black. When you went to add more detail you shaded in the upper arm on one of the arms, and you smudged the face a bit to make it look like the angel was crying. You colored the wings and dress darker also. At the bottom of the picture you labeled the drawing ‘The Angel of Sorrow’. Drawing was peaceful. It was nice.

Almost.

You heard an engine outside. You leaned over to look what it was. You stopped breathing momentarily. You could feel your heartbeat go faster. “Eli… Lock the deadbolt fast.” you whispered. He did and then looked out the window looking at what you had saw. He gasped. “W-what is he doing here?” You asked quietly as tears rolled down your face.

“Go upstairs… wait there until he leaves.” Eli said while moving over to you. You quickly got up and went up the stairs. When you reached the top you heard a loud banging on the door. You froze and looked at Eli with fear in your eyes. He motioned for you to continue. You did as he asked and went into his room. You walked in and sat on the bed in the far corner against the walls. You started to breath faster and you couldn’t calm down. You were crying and you couldn’t breath.

After what seemed like forever the banging stopped. A couple minutes later Eli came up the stairs and sat on the edge of the bed. He put his hand on your uninjured shoulder and started to calm you down. After you were breathing steadily again and you stopped crying you asked, “Is he gone?”

“Yeah.”

You sighed in relief. Not too long after that you laid down, you realized that you were exhausted. You shifted carefully so your head was near Eli. You curled up carefully and fell asleep.
