36. No One Was Supposed To Know

Kalei's POV

Michael was texting Ash. The others were looking for me. I can't go home, my family will interrogate me. There's no where else to run. I'm alone, once again.

"Do I exist?" I asked myself. I couldn't answer this. I looked over at Michael, who was looking at me. "What?"

"Why would you ask that to yourself? I'm not trying to make it seem like I'm against you, but why do you beat yourself up like this?"

"Well would you like to answer it then?" I accidentally snapped at him.

"Yes, actually. I would. You asked if you existed. You don't know, do you?"

"Know what?"

"You are my main priority. Your existence is everything to me. I hate seeing you like this. It's not you"

"Well how would you know what's me if I don't even know what's me?"

"Because you're looking to hard. Don't beat yourself up like this" I just looked away. He gently placed his hand on my knee, and I flinched. I looked down at it. Then up at him, he was looking down, as if he was thinking hard about something.

"What is it, Michael?"

He hesitated, but spoke.

"Show me your arms" This time, I hesitated. I pulled down my sleeves and showed him my arm. "Uncover it" I pulled my arm back. "K. Pull back your sleeve." I slowly pulled up my sleeves, revealing 1 cut, 2 cuts, 3. Every time I passed a cut, a tear fell down my face. "Why" he said. "Why would you do this."

"No one was supposed to know" I said. I hopped off the branch, and began to run.
