79. Girl Talk

Kalei's POV

Cheers went around the building as the ending school bell rang. Wow, the people here are really spirited. I left my last period, ignoring Bella when she brushed my shoulder. Michael beat me to my locker before anyone else.

"Well hello, love," he flashed a dorky grin.

"Love, huh?" A smile tugged at my lips. "You seem very serious about our relationship." I smiled and slowly nodded at him.

He came closer to me and swiped his finger down the bridge of my nose. "Very."

"Ayyyeee!" One, two, three, more voices yelled in sync as a tsunami of my friends rushed over to us and engulfed me and Michael in a group hug. "Formal! Formal! Formal," our group chanted with the entire school as we ran out of the building in a tidal wave.

I was on Luke's shoulders by the time our group came to my house. Michael smiled up at me and bowed. "Your royal highness," he grinned.

I pulled my hair to one side and gracefully let it slide down my front. "Yes, my loyal subject and his peers?"

"Shut up!" Calum laughed and went behind Luke, then pushed me off his shoulders. Mine and Michael's eyes widened as I crashed into him and had us both tumble to the ground. Calum stifled a few snickers as Jenai punched him in the shoulder.

"Calum? The heck, man?" Michael asked as he helped me up.

"Learn your balance." Calum stuck out his tongue in response.

Jaden displayed a big smile and chimed in. "The formal is only a little while from now; us girls should go shopping while the guys do the same!"

My smile faltered a little. "Jaden, you sure you wanna come? I mean, it's great you're positively involved in our group, but you don't have a date. And, no offense but, no one's gonna wanna take you because no one knows you."

Jaden frowned. "Well I'll still be with you guys." She glanced at Luke and I swear I saw her pupils widen. "Besides, it'll be better than staying alone at your house."

"Okay, it's whatever you want. Sure, we can go shopping. What do you guys think?" I looked at Skylar, Alyssa, Live, Jenai, Brianna, and Hailey. I wonder what happened to Olivia, she doesn't hang out with us that much anymore.

Jaden's POV

"What do you guys think?" Kalei asked and looked at all the girls. I glanced at Luke. Just a few more hours, then I can have him...

Positive responses came from the rest of the girls and us and the boys parted ways.

"See you in two hours, Luke!" Alyssa grinned and waved back at him. I swear she was waving at Ashton, though.. Alyssa and Live stayed at the back of the girls' group as we walked. I began eavesdropping on their conversation.

"You guys any closer yet?" Live quietly asked Alyssa.

"Oh yeah. We get closer and closer each time we see each other." They're talking about Luke, obviously.

"What about.. 'Her'?"

"New girl? We all know she likes my boyfriend." I fought the urge to growl. 'New Girl' my elbow! "She nc have Luke. Because by the time we get to the dance, Ashton will be eating out of my hand and tossing that Hailey girl like the piece of trash she is."

They snickered at each other for a second, and then silence.

Did they know? What a triangle.. I'm trying to steal Luke, Alyssa's trying to steal Ashton, and Hailey.. Poor little Hailey. She probably doesn't have a clue. The responsible thing to do would be to tell her about Alyssa and Live. But where's the fun in that? I played a devious grin and kept walking with the others.

Kalei's POV

Skylar and I were talking to each other about the formal. "Okay, seriously, you have to at least tell me who you're bringing!" She proudly shook her head.

"Nope! It's a surprise for all!"

Alyssa and Live we're talking behind us. So were Jenai and Brianna. Everyone was talking to their best friend. I guessed that meant Hailey and Jaden were talking to each other.

"C'mon, Skylar, tell me!" I plastered on a begging smile. She just grinned and continued to shake her head. "Okayy, what about a hint?"

She thought for a moment then nodded. "I call him my little hedgehog."

"Skylar! That doesn't give me anything! What does he look like?"

"Haha, nope! You got your hint!" Skylar laughed as I punched her in the shoulder. "Don't worry, you all will see him at the formal!"

It seemed to go quiet behind us, so I turned around and started walking backward. Jenai and Brianna were still talking, so were Alyssa and Live. I shuddered. Live gives me some bad vibes. I tried a smile. "Hailey, Jaden? You guys are so quiet! Y'all should talk to each other!" They both stayed quiet. "Okay..? I guess you can stay quiet if you want.." I went to turn around to walk forward but Jaden put a hand on my shoulder.

"How 'bout you and I talk while Halli and Skyla talk?"

Hailey cleared her throat. "Hailey. Not Halli."

Skylar, unamused, waved her hand slightly. "Sky-lar. Not Sky-la. There's an 'r'."

"Whatever," Jaden smiled at the two but stared light blue daggers into their eyes. What was that about?

"I guess we could talk... Skylar, Hailey, do you guys mind talking to each other?" They reluctantly nodded and stood side-by-side as they talked. I leaned in to Jaden's ear. "What was that? I saw the way you stared at them."

Jaden shrugged, "I don't like being corrected."

"But that's their names. Remember how irritated I got when you'd pronounce my name 'Kay-lee'?"

She sighed and crossed her arms. "Yeah, yeah, I guess you have a point."

I smiled. "I knew you'd see it my way."
