Out in South Park

Rosalynn is not your average teenager. She loves to draw, skateboard, hang with the guys, and is quite innocent. Her dad's job requires her family to move quite often, so when he lets them know the day after school ends for the summer that they have to move. No one is really surprised. They pack up and head out of California to a small little town in Colorado called South Park. Rosalynn has no trouble getting friends, but what happens when she falls for one? Why does she feel so close to everyone right off the bat? Why is South Park such a weird town?
(The cover art I did not draw. It's from Deviant Art by the user kamaniki. I also do not own any of the South Park characters and landmarks that I will use, obviously. That credit goes to Trey and Matt.)
[Until I get time, this is unedited. So for typos and mistakes like that. I'll get around to it.]

25. The Best Boyfriend

*The Next Evening*

“This is just like her Fourth of July party,” I cling to Kenny’s arm. “She’s known for throwing crazy parties, isn’t she?”

“Wendy takes go big or go home very seriously,” Kenny answers. “You didn’t go to parties while in California?”

“I did, just not like this, and these now freak me out a little bit. They were calm, and there would be twenty people. Maximum. For a small town, big parties are quite common here it seems. South Park really is weird.”
“Well, we don’t have to do any activities that make you uncomfortable. And spin the bottle is out. I’m the only one who can kiss you, and the other way around.”

I smile, “The way it should it.”

“We don’t have to stay long, either. Just let me know when you want to leave, and we’ll head out.”

“Well, let’s go in first,” I giggle. “Come on.” I start pulling him towards Wendy’s house.

“Okay, I’m coming. Stop pulling please,” he chuckles.

*Hours Later*

“I didn’t ask to play this!” I exclaim as I’m shoved into a hall closet.

“You guys are dicks,” Kenny grumbles as he steps in next to me.

Kenny and I were just on our way out when we were ambushed. Force to play seven minutes in heaven.

The door slams shut, and I hear the click of the lock.

“I just want to go home,” I whine.

Kenny’s hands find my waist in the darkness. “I know Princess, just seven more minutes. Then I’ll take you home.” He pulls me towards him.

I rest my head on his chest. “I’ve had a lot of fun tonight, though. Dancing with you is nice.”

A quick kiss is pressed to the top of my head, “Spending time with you is nice.”

“Um, tomorrow when you come over, bring Karen, please.”

“Was going to anyways.”

I smile and close my eyes, “You really are the best.”

“How did your parents even find out about us?”

“They were home when we were coming home from school. They saw us kiss.”

“Ah, you didn’t say we just started dating, did you?”

“Didn’t come up, my dad was too worried about his little girl locking lips with some boy.”

“As would most fathers.”

“I’m seventeen, I think kissing boys is something I should have been doing for years. I don’t get why he’s got his panties all in a twist.”

Kenny lets out a chuckle, “You’re his first daughter, and he is just being protective.”

Before I can protest, the closet door flies open and light spills in. My eyes flutter open and I push away from Kenny so I can see my way out.

“You guys are no fun,” Wendy pouts.

Behind her is all of our other friends, smiles on their faces.

“Can we go now?” Kenny turns around to face them all.

“Sure, go ahead,” Wendy moves out of the way.

“Did you guys kiss at all?” Stan asks.

I grab Kenny’s hand, “No. Just talked.”

Kenny intertwines our fingers, “Rosa is tired, and she just wants to get home.”

“Well, at least you came for a little bit,” Krystal says.

“Mhhm, I’m looking forward to Wendy’s next big party,” I nod.

*The Next Afternoon*

“You are right on time, guys,” I smirk as I usher Kenny and Karen into my house.

“Thanks to me,” Karen smiles.

“If Kenny ever causes you trouble, Pumpkin, just let me know,” I close the front door. “Ashlyn is in the living room, if you want to head on in.”

Karen slips her shoes off and hangs her jacket on the coat rack, “Thanks for inviting me.”

“No problem, Pumpkin, I consider you a part of my family, so you deserved to come.”

She smiles a little bigger before walking farther into the house.

My attention turns to Kenny now. His parka is off and on the coat rack, and he’s taken his boots off. He is kind of dressed up with a white button up shirt and nice jeans on. His hair is also slightly styled.

“You clean up so nice,” I place my hand on his shoulder. “The best boyfriend I’ve ever had, even though I’ve only been in one other relationship.”

Kenny lovingly smiles, “I get it. This is mostly thanks to Karen. I’ve got to make a good impression, since the last time they saw me I was locking lips with you.”

“Well, time to introduce you to them properly.” The hand on his shoulder drops down to grab his hand.

He nods. “Nervous Princess?”

“Just a bit.”

We walk to the living room to see Karen and Ashlyn laughing over something on their phones as they sit on the couch. My parents are standing near the kitchen entrance. No doubt waiting for us.

“Hello Mr. and Mrs. Heath. It’s a pleasure to meet you,” Kenny lets go of my hand and walks over to my parents to shake their hands. “Kenneth McCormick, just call me Kenny.”

“Nice to meet you as well, Kenny,” my mother shakes his hand.

“You weren’t making out with Rosalynn in the front room, were you?” my dad shakes his hand, waiting for an answer.

“Dad!” I glare at him. “Really?”

“No sir, I was not,” Kenny answers. “Just talking a bit. You’ve got Rosa all nervous because of this.”

“Kenny,” I whine.

“But don’t worry, I’m very easy to get along with.”

*An Hour Later*

“So Karen,” my mother smiles at Kenny’s younger sister. “You seem to be Ashlyn’s new best friend.”

“I like to think of us as sisters,” Karen takes a bite of her mashed potatoes. “Same with Rosa. They give me a feeling in my heart that Kenny can’t. I’m so glad they gave me a chance.”

“You are too sweet, Pumpkin,” I take a sip of my water. “I think we enjoy you being our sister.”

“Oh yeah,” Ashlyn smiles. “You’ve made living here worthwhile. And you are welcome here any time.”

“Do you have a job Kenny?” m drags the conversation back to Kenny.

I roll my eyes and continue to eat.

“At the moment I just do a lot of odd jobs for anyone in town,” Kenny answers. “Not a steady income, but I am able to help out my family. It feels good to help people in South Park too.”

“Do you have a plan for after high school?”

“Almost,” Kenny takes a quick sip of his lemonade. “I’ll try to get into South Park’s community college, if I don’t make it, which would be weird, I’ll just go right to work where ever I can.”

“So you’ll stay here?”

“I plan on it. Most people don’t leave South Park if they’re born here.”

“How long have you and Rosa been dating?”

I freeze mid-chew. The question I’ve been dreading.

“Depends on what you define as dating,” Kenny starts. “We’ve been hanging out since the beginning of the summer. We were fast best friends. Middle of the summer we told each other we loved one another. The first day of school was our first kiss and making it official to everyone. For me, we’ve been dating since she said I love you.”

“So anyway, it hasn’t been long,” my dad takes a sip of his sweet tea. “What do you intend to do with my daughter?”

“Dad,” I glare my dad down. “Stop.”

“You’re being ridiculous Arin,” my mom sighs.

“I intend to always be there for Rosa. She’s a princess and I will treat her like one. I will never hurt her, and I will take care of her. She means the world to me, as does Karen. They’re my tow favorite girls. With Ash right on the outside. I won’t dirty her, if that’s what you want know.”

I let go of the breath I was holding in. Kenny truly is the best boyfriend.

“You are such a gentleman, Kenny,” my mom smiles. “I don’t know about Arin, but to me, you’re perfect for Rosa. You two already know that, though.”

 *A Couple Days Later*

“Can I watch you draw?” Tweek asks the second the art teacher says we can do our thing.

“Go ahead Tweekers,” I smile as I open up my sketchpad to a blank page. “I don’t care.”

“Okay, I just need some inspiration, and you draw so well. I think it will help me.”

“You brain is a little fuzzed, isn’t it? Hard to think? Focus?”

“Just a bit. I’m tired. School freaks me out.”

“Well, you can’t drink your coffee all day. That’s why. Your stutter is gone though.”

“I know. Coffee does it.”

“I can help you with that problem.”

“Is it a problem?”

“How about addiction?”

“Okay. How can you help?”

“Every time you want coffee just call me. I’ll distract you. Make you forget about it. Sound good?”

“Why do you help everyone here?”

I smile, “I don’t help everyone, just the few that need a small helping hand. It just makes me feel needed.”

“Oh, all right. I’ll try and call you next time.”

“Good, now, it’s time for me to draw.”

*The Next Day*

“You’ve get the job,” the owner of South Park’s finest, a man in his late fifties, smiles. “Can you start working as a waitress this weekend?”

“Oh, um, yes,” I smile back. “Thank you so much for this opportunity.”

“I rarely turn down a hard worker. And I’m just happy to help the youth.”

“Are you flexible if something in my life pops up? And what’s the pay?”

“Yes, and you’ll start at ten dollars and hour. Plus all the tips you get, but you knew that. I think you will be head waitress in no time.”

“Oh, well, that will be my goal,” I nod. “Thank you again.”

“No problem Rosalynn. Let me just get your uniform and I’ll let you go for today.”

“Sounds perfect.”
