23. First Day Of School

*Two Days Later*

I groan as my alarm clock wakes me up. The first day of school is today and I’m not ready for it. Regardless, I get out of bed and head to my bathroom. Quickly getting into the shower and planning out what I’m going to do with Kenny.

I finish my shower in about ten minutes and step out. Drying off and the changing into my outfit for the day. I’ve decided on jean shorts, a black Nirvana t-shirt, and black converse. My black bra does nothing to my boobs, I’m wearing black underwear, and my socks are also black.

I put half my hair up, a tad more makeup than usual, and brush my teeth. Then I exit my bathroom, slip on my Pan Jacket, grab my white backpack that I sharpie on, and head downstairs.

“I’ off mom!” I open the front door. “Is Ashlyn gone?”

“I think so! Bye sweetie!” my mom shouts back.

I head out the door, careful not to slam it shout, and start the walk to the bus stop.

No one in town wants to waste gas to drive to school, and they told me riding the bus is fun. It’s not something I’ve done for years, but I’ll do it so I can spend a few more minutes with the boys.

I reach the bus stop and Stan, Kyle, Kenny, Butters, and Cartman are already there, looking like they always do. The only difference is they all have backpacks on.

“Hey guys,” I smile as I step up next to Kenny.

“Hey Rosa,” Butters waves to me.

“Everyone ready for this?”

“Fuck no,” Cartman grumbles.

“I’ve been so ready for a while now,” Kenny muffles and I actually catch what he is saying.

“Oh yeah, Kenny and Rosa are finally official,” Stan says.

“Damn, that’s right,” Kyle laughs. “Congrats, I guess.”

I smile and look up at Kenny, “Yeah, that’s right.”

Kenny looks down at me; his eyes seem to sparkle.

I unzip his parka a little bit, “Anything you’d like to say?”

“Hm, I love you,” he coos.

I smile a little bigger, “And I love you.”

The bus rounds a corner, and I know it’ snow or never to do what I’ve been planning since yesterday.

“Now, don’t freak out,” I grab the fuzzy park of Kenny’s parka, pulling it closer so our faces meet, and I connect our lips.

Kenny is no doubt shocked, but after a few seconds he melts into it and places his hands on my hips, pulling me closer.

“Fucking finally,” Stan says.

“I’m gonna throw up,” Cartman groans.

“Don’t break her heart, Kenny, or I will kill you,” Kyle slightly growls.

Kenny pulls away, pulling my bottom lip just a bit, and rests his forehead on mine. “Damn, fucking hell. My god, kissing you is like going to heaven. I know that feeling. You are amazing. I am so glad I waited for that.”

I smile, “My first real kiss, and with you.” I run my right hand through his hair. “Now you have to take me on a date.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll take you on a date very soon.”

The bus screeches to a halt, and Kenny and I separate. Then we all climb onto the bus.

Kenny pulls me into an empty seat, right into his lap. “Just letting everyone know we truly are together,” he whispers.

I nod, taking my backpack off and placing it beside us.

“Oh my, gosh!” Wendy shouts. “Kenny, Rosa, you are too cute.”

I smile as I feel my cheeks heat up. “Th-thanks,” I choke out.

Kenny wraps his arms around me and pulls me closer,” Rosa’s the cutest in this relationship.”

“As, congrats guys,” Nicole giggles.

“Renny, is that their ship name?” Clyde asks.

“No one gives a fuck about ship names, Clyde,” Cartman says.

“I’m glad Kenny’s finally found love,” Bebe says.

“I bet they have sex before the week ends,” some guys says.

“Fuck you!” Kenny exclaims.

“That’s rude,” Krystal sighs.

“Doesn’t m-matter if th-they d-do,” Tweek stammers out.

“I won’t do anything with you until you’re ready,” Kenny kisses my cheek. “You set the pace.”

*Twenty Minutes Later*

“How much did you pay to get a locker right next to mine?” I smile as I place my jacket in my locker.

“Only five bucks,” Kenny leans against his locker and smirks. “Not that much, and I’d do anything to be closer to you.”

“Can I have a backpack in class?”

“No silly,” he chuckles.

“Your whole attitude has changed since our kiss. You are being so cute.”

“I feel I’ve always been cute, I’m just really happy now. So it’s showing more.”

“Aw, I’m glad I can make you so happy.”

“Do I make you happy?”

“Very much,” I shove my backpack into my locker. In my arms is a notebook and binder. “Let’s get to class.”

Kenny grabs my hand and nods, “I’ll be your guide.”

We start walking down the hall; past other students who stare and whisper.

“Um, Kenneth,” I mumble. “Why are they all looking at us? And whispering?”

“Don’t mind them, they’re just surprised I have a girlfriend. And that she’s pretty and the new girl.”

“Oh, okay,” I pout.

Kenny pulls me into a classroom where I see familiar faces. Then he pulls me to some seats in the back.

“You’ll have to wear your glasses,” I smirk.

“I know, so will you at some point,” Kenny pulls out his glasses case.

“Yeah,” I sigh.

“Are those whispers still bothering you?”

“Just a bit.”

“Then my goal is to cheer you up. By the end of the school day.”

A wave of kids rush into the class, and then the bell rings.

A man, I’m assuming is Mr. Garrison, enters the room. “Hello class,” he doesn’t sound too happy. “I’m Mr. Garrison, but most of you already know that.” He looks down at the papers in his hands. “Hm, looks like we have a new student. Rosalynn Heath?”

I raise my hand, “Here.”

“Ah, hello. Welcome to South Park High.”

I lower my hand, “Thank you.”

“Now, I really don’t care what you did over the summer. So, I’ll just start passing out textbooks.”

*A Few Hours Later*

“Kenny, you don’t have to carry my books,” I chuckle as we slide out of our desks.

Kenny gives me a reassuring smile, “Yes I do. That’s what a good boyfriend does.” He picks up the six textbooks from our desks.

I pick up my notebook and binder, “Aw, that’s sweet. Where are we going now?”

The classroom is buzzing as everyone is packing up and leaving.

“Lunch,” Kenny answers. “We’ll stop at our lockers before heading to the cafeteria.”

“Do you bring your lunch?”

“I don’t and I usually just get a really small lunch.”

We exit the classroom and start heading to our lockers.

“You get full, right?” I ask.

“Sort of,” Kenny shrugs.

“Oh, Kenny. Not anymore. Not with me being your girlfriend.”

“Oh no you don’t. I can take care of myself.”

“Most of your money when school starts goes to Karen, doesn’t it?”

“She’s my little sister, and deserves so much more.”

“So let me help you.”

We reach our lockers and I quickly open mine. I put my binger and notebook on the top. Then I take my textbooks from Kenny and place them on the bottom.

Kenny opens his locker as I close mine. He places his textbooks on the top shelf.

“So, I’ll bring lunches for us tomorrow, okay?” I grab his hand and intertwine our fingers.

“Fine,” he slams his locker shut.

“Kenneth.”

He looks at me with a small sadness in his eyes, “I don’t need help.”

With my free hand, I cup his face. “We all need help.”

“Sure, sure,” he avoids looking me in the eye.

“I love you Kenny, so that means I’m here to help.”

He gives me a quick kiss before pulling me towards the direction of the cafeteria. “I love you too. Don’t help me too much. All right?”

“Of course.”

We make it to the cafeteria within a minute, and get into the line. The line goes fairly quickly and we are out in about four minutes.

“Rosa, over here!” Wendy waves me over to a table full of girls.

“Go ahead, Princess,” Kenny says. “I’m going to sit with the guys.”

I pout, “I’ll see you after lunch then.”

“To pick electives.”

“Good. I’m excited for that.”

“See you then, babe.”

“See you, Kenneth.”

*Thirty Minutes Later*

Lunch was actually fun sitting with the girls. I was asked a lot of questions about my relationship with Kenny, but I made sure the attention wasn’t on me the whole time.

“It seems you had a good time with the girls,” Kenny quickly kisses my cheek as we exit the cafeteria.

“My cheeks hurt from laughing so much,” I grab Kenny’s hand.

“Well, I’m glad you’re having a good first day.”

About a minute later we reach a line of kids. At the front is a table with a couple of teachers helping set kids up with their electives.

“This is crazy,” I lean into Kenny. “At my old school all of this was done my computer.”

“Yeah, well, South Park is weird,” Kenny releases my hand and puts his arm around my shoulders. “Do you know which electives you are taking?”

“Yeah. Art and Home Ec.”

“Did the girls tell you to take Home Ec. with them?”

“Maybe,” I bite my lower lip.

“It’s a fun class, you’ll like it.”

“You just want to see me in my gym uniform. Don’t you?”

“I’d be lying if I said no. I’m just worried about all the other guys seeing you in it.”

“You’re such a jealous boy now. I’m yours, only yours. I have been, and always will be.”

*Little Over An Hour Later*

“This isn’t fair!” Wendy should as the boys chuck dodge balls at us girls.

“Come on girls, fight back,” Craig taunts.

Kenny locks eyes with me, and I plead him not to throw a ball. He just offers a small smile.

“You guys are too rough,” Krystal whines.

“You girls don’t try,” Kyle smirks.

I pick a ball off the gym floor and look for an easy target. My eyes lock in on Tweek, and I let one fly.

Tweek gets hit right on the thigh and lets out an “Ah!”

“Sorry Tweekers!”

“It’s okay Rosa,” Tweek sends me a smile as he walks to the sidelines.

“See, that how we wish you would play,” Stan exclaims.

I pick up another ball and nail Butters in the arm. “Sorry Butters!”

“It’s a game Rosa, I’m fine,” Butters nods at me.

From that point on, the other girls actually play. With me as their leader.

Fate would have it though, that Kenny and I are the last ones standing.

“Throw one this fucking game, Kenny!” Cartman yells.

“I can’t hit my girlfriend,” Kenny stares at me.

“Like hell you can!”

“Just come over here, Kenny,” I beckon him with my index finger. A smirk on my lips. “Then we can start a new game.”

Kenny starts walking towards me, as if in a trance.

The girls explode in yes while the boys groan out a no.

“I could never hurt you,” Kenny sighs as he reaches the midcourt line.

“It’s just a game, Kenneth,” I purr as I push up onto my toes. “Now cross over the line.”

“I’ll get you back. One day,” he steps over the line.

“Good boy,” I lean in and give him a quick kiss.

“Hey, no PDA!” the teacher, whose name I’ve already forgotten, yells at us.

I laugh and fall off my toes. “New game! Right now the girls are one up!”

*Fifty Minutes Later*

I slam my locker shut and adjust my backpack straps. Ready to walk home and chill until it is time for bed.

“All ready, Princess?” Kenny zips his parka halfway up.

I look up at him and smile, “Yes, take me home.”

He grabs my hand, and leads the way out of the school.

It takes us a few minutes to get out of the building and into a rhythm as we head to my house.

“Um, Kenny, I’ve been meaning to tell you something kind of important for some weeks now,” I give his hand a squeeze.

“Oh, and what is it?” Kenny seems kind of tense.

“Well, my birthday is tomorrow,” I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding.

“What? Are you serious? I have no time to get you a gift.”

I giggle, “That’s the point. I don’t need anything. All I want is to be with you.”

“I can’t believe you, Princess. I’ll look like a bad boyfriend if I don’t get you anything.”

“I’ll tell them that your gift to me was our first date.”

“Shit, I’ve got to finish planning that tonight then.”

“Don’t go all out for me, I prefer something simple.”

“Give me your backpack.”

“What?”

“Your backpack, give it to me.”

“Oh, um, okay.” I slip my backpack off my shoulders and hand it to him.”

“Now, how embarrassed would you be if I picked you up?”

“Um, how would you even pick me up?”

Kenny puts my backpack over his shoulder. “Quite easily, actually.”

Within seconds, Kenny has me in his arms and is still walking.

A laugh has escaped my lips and I have my hands gripping his shirt. “This is so much fun,” I lay my head on his chest.”

“Well, I just want to see you smile, so this seemed like a good bet,” Kenny adjusts his arm under my knees.

“Thanks Kenneth, that means a lot. I’m not too heavy, am I?”

“You’re perfect,” he quickly leans down and kisses the top of my head.

The rest of the journey is just me smiling and Kenny bouncing me every now and again.

Once we reach my house, he gently sets me down, and gives me my backpack.

“I’ll see you tomorrow, Princess,” Kenny gives me a warm smile.

“Do I get a goodbye kiss?” I lean forward a bit.

“Of course,” his hands gently cup my face. “I love you, Rosa.” His lips connect with mine before I can respond. His tongue swipes across my bottom lip, but I keep my mouth closed. He pulls way with a pout on his lips.

“Oh don’t give me that look,” I give him a shove. “I just want to go slow. We just started dating.”

He sighs, “Sorry, you’re right.”

“Now, I’ll see you tomorrow,” I tap the end of his nose. “And, I love you.”

Kenny smiles and takes a step back, “I’ll text you, okay?”

“I’d be shocked if you didn’t.”

“Bye Rosa,” he chuckles and turns around. “I love you!”

“I know.”

He walks off and I’m left to think over the day. Happiness and love running through me.

Once I’ve spent enough time outside loving life, I walk into my house. My parents standing a mere three feet from the door.
