Out in South Park

Rosalynn is not your average teenager. She loves to draw, skateboard, hang with the guys, and is quite innocent. Her dad's job requires her family to move quite often, so when he lets them know the day after school ends for the summer that they have to move. No one is really surprised. They pack up and head out of California to a small little town in Colorado called South Park. Rosalynn has no trouble getting friends, but what happens when she falls for one? Why does she feel so close to everyone right off the bat? Why is South Park such a weird town?
(The cover art I did not draw. It's from Deviant Art by the user kamaniki. I also do not own any of the South Park characters and landmarks that I will use, obviously. That credit goes to Trey and Matt.)

15. Fighting

*Five Days Later*

“What show to binge watch tonight?” I bite my lip as I look through our DVDS.

“Pop in a season of The Simpsons or we can watch Sherlock,” Ashlyn answers.

I spot Sherlock first and pull it out. Then I pop it in the DVD player and head to the couch. “So, enjoying South Park yet?”

“Well, I do have new friends, and we have been doing fun things. But, school hasn’t started yet. That’s the real test. Ask again when we’ve been in school a week.”

“Fine, fair enough. I will,” I place the bowl of popcorn in my lap. “I picked Sherlock.”

“Was hoping you would.”

“We should have invited people over.”

“Next time, I guess. Even though we say that every time.”

I press play to get the show started, “Let’s get this night started.”

*A Few Hours Later*

The clock hits midnight and another episode of the Simpsons ends. Ashlyn seems to be asleep in the recliner, and I’m surprised I’m still awake.

My phone vibrates and I look down at it.

Kenny’s dorky face fills the screen as it tells me he’s calling.

I yawn, pick the phone up, and answer, “Kenny? Why are you calling?”

“Rosalynn,” Kenny sounds out of breath. “Thank god you picked up. Karen and I need to come over.”

“Right now?”

“Yes, in fact, we are already on our way.”

“What’s going on?”

“I’ll explain when I get there.”

“Okay. I’ll be looking for you two.”

“Thank you. I’ll see you soon, beautiful.”

“Uh, yeah. Crazy boy.”

The line goes dead and my phone just slips out of my hand. My mind going a mile a minute. I can’t get one clear thought.

The next thing I know, I’m throwing a pillow at Ashlyn and she’s bolting awake.

“What the hell?” Ashlyn yawns and looks over at me.

“Go upstairs to your room and make up something for Karen,” I command.

“She and Kenny are coming over.”

“Again, why?”

“I don’t know,” I stand up off the couch. “Kenny didn’t tell me?”

“Oh, well, all right then,” Ashlyn hops out of the recliner and quietly rushes upstairs.

I turn the TV off, not caring that the DVD is still in it, and head to the front door, quietly unlocking it. I really don’t want to get my parents involved.

The minutes pass by agonizingly slow. It’s stressful waiting for two teenagers and not knowing their reason for a place to stay at a quarter past midnight.

When the two finally come into view after what seems like hours, I slowly open the door and wave them over.

Karen, with a Hello Kitty backpack on, runs to me. Almost tackling me to the ground in a hug. Tears waterfalling down her face.

“Oh, sweetheart, what’s wrong?” I run a hand through her hair to try and calm her down.

“It was our drunk fuck of a dad again,” Kenny says.

I look up, and in the dim light of the lights inside, I see the bad state Kenny is in.

He has a black eye, busted and bloodied lip, and cuts all over his face.

“He hit you?” I gasp.

“Yes,” Kenny replies.

I hold Karen out by her shoulders. “Ashlyn is in her room waiting for you.”

Karen sniffles and nods, “Thank you.”

“You’re so very welcome, pumpkin,” I smile. “It’s going to be okay now.”

Her eyes show a glimmer of hope. Then she walks out of my hands and into the house, going right to Ashlyn’s room.

I look back at Kenny, “What the fuck is going on?”

“I’ll explain once we are inside and in your room,” Kenny steps around me into my house.

“Fine,” I turn around and take a step in. Then close and lock the door.

“Lead the way then, Princess.”

I sigh, grab his hand, turn the lights off, and lead us to my room in the darkness.

Kenny drops his duffel bag by my beanbags as I turn the lights on.

“Time to explain, Kenneth,” I close my door and look at the boy.

“If you’ll clean me up,” Kenny slips of his parka and then black t-shirt. Bruises and cuts litter his chest and torso.

“Holy shit,” I can’t help but stare at the damage. He also has slightly defined six pack that catch my eye. “That other fucker.”

“That is true,” he chuckles.

“This isn’t funny, Kenny,” my voice raises slightly as I let out frustration.

He instantly stops laughing, “Sorry. Clean me up, please.”

“You are so lucky I like you,” I head into my bathroom and flick on the lights. “Sit your ass down on the toilet.”

Kenny enters and sits down on the toilet. “Thanks for letting me come over.”

I take my first-aid kit out from under my sink. “You’re welcome.” I get out what I need to patch Kenny up and turn to him. “Now tell me all that happened.”

“So pushy,” he hisses as I start cleaning his cuts. “My dad had a late shift at the, fuck.” He bites his lip for a few seconds. “Actually, I don’t know where he works. But, it must have been stressful because he got drunk before he came home. Damn, that hurts.”

“Sorry, I wish it didn’t,” I glance up at him and smile.

“He made quite an entrance when he got inside. Woke everyone up. So we all went to check on him. The second his fist hit my mom, I had him pinned. Karen was bawling at that point.”

“Your face is going to hurt more,” I dispose of the used objects and get more. “Sorry.”

“You’re fine Rosa. It’s not your fault.”

“Continue with your story,” I begin cleaning his face. “God, so much blood.”

“My dad was worse, and now he’s in jail for a bit. We fought for a while before than me, that’s why he got me this good. But I’m getting better at fighting. He will learn his lesson one day. Fuck,” he pulls away from me. “Just leave my lips alone.”

“Kenny, I have to clean it up,” I barely pout. “I’ll let you kiss my neck.”

He leans back with a smirk, “Deal.”

“So why did you have to come here?” I quickly do his lip as a string of cuss words fly out.

“That kiss on the neck doesn’t seem like enough now.”

“Answer my question.”

“My mom was a mess, she couldn’t handle Karen. And I just needed to get out. I’m so glad you picked up that phone.”

“So am I,” I smile.

I finish bandaging up Kenny in silence. His hisses and cuss words all that fill it.

Once I’m all done, he stands up and walks back into my room. I clean up the mess I made, put my first-aid kit away, and head back into my room.

“Get the fuck out of my bed,” I slightly smile at Kenny in my bed.

“Nope,” he smirks. “There’s plenty of room for you.”

“This means nothing,” I turn the lights off and then climb into my bed.

“I’ve dreamt about being in the same bed as you,” Kenny pulls me closer to him. “This is way batter than any of those dreams. His lips lightly touch my neck.

“That feels weird,” I mumble.

“A guy has never kissed you there?”

“No. No one has. Okay, I’m pretty innocent. Now, good night, Kenny.”

“Goodnight Rosalynn.”

*The Next Morning*

I wake up snuggled into the chest of the other person in my bed. Their arms are securely wrapped around me. A small snore escaping their lips.

As my brain wakes up, I remember last night. That Kenny is the other person in my bed, but I don’t freak out. In fact, I snuggle closer to him.

“Rosa?” Kenny mumbles.

“Hm?” I smile and run my hands down his back.

“I’m trying really hard to not have a boner right now, so if I do, I’m sorry.”

“No, it’s fine,” I yawn. “I understand.”

“It’s embarrassing.”

“It is normal. Like how I have periods.”

His lips brush against my ear, “Can I kiss your neck, then?”

“Just one kiss.”

His lips press against my neck, gives a small suck, and then pulls away. “You are so amazing.”

“Did you give me a hickey?”

“No, I wanted to, but I held back.”

“It feels weird since your lip is busted.”

“Fourth of July is tomorrow.”

“I can feel you,” I scoot away a little bit.

“I know, that’s why I changed the subject.”

“Are you blushing?”

“Little bit.”

“That’s really cute.”

“How about you, are you blushing?”

“My face is just a little hot.”

“I can’t believe I slept with you. In the most innocent way of the phrase.”

“Want to get up and make breakfast for our sisters?”

“That sounds like a great thing to do. Let’s go.”

*A Few Hours Later*

“Damn Kenny,” Stan says as Kenny and I slide into the booth. It’s like our new meeting spot is Tweek’s Bros Coffee.

“What did the other guy look like?” Cartman asks.

“I knocked him out,” Kenny smiles.

“And then you went to Rosa’s so she could clean you up?” Kyle asks.

Kenny puts a hand on my far hip, pulling me closer to him. “Pretty much. And she gives me kisses to make me feel better.”

“I just don’t understand why the fuck you wouldn’t call one of the guys,” I run a hand through my hair. “The obviously know it happens.”

“Yeah, why did you call Rosa? Stan asks.

“She was the first person I thought of, and I was going to have to explain my home life eventually,” Kenny answers.

“You patched him up very well,” Cartman says. “Nice job. We’ll have to start calling you nurse.”

I smile, “Thanks, but I’m no nurse. Just know the very basics for cuts and such.”

“So back to you Kenny,” Kyle says. “He was drunk?”

“Off his ass,” Kenny chuckles.

“It’s not funny,” I pout.

“Sorry Rosa, it happens quite often that it doesn’t faze me. Now I just find it funny,” he presses a quick kiss to my cheek.

“So you just beat up you dad up all the time because he hits your mom. Then he goes to jail but always gets let out. It that it?”

“Sounds right,” Stan says.

“This is South Park,” Cartman adds. “It’s weird here. We don’t have the same laws as most places.”

I sigh and shake my head, “He does it all the time and all he ever gets is a few days in jail. That’s crazy. That’s not right.”

“Nothing we can do about it,” Kyle shrugs.

“I guess not,” I sigh.

“Rosa,” a peppy girl’s voice fills my ears.

I look over and spot Wendy, Bebe, and Krystal walking over to us. Plus another girl I’ve never seen before. “Hey guys,” I smile and wave at them.

“Whoa, Kenny, what happened?” Krystal asks as the girls step up to the booth.

Kenny messes with his hair, “Just got in a little fight. I’m fine.”

“Do you girls need Rosa for something?” Kyle asks.

“Just letting her that I’m having a Fourth of July party tomorrow.” Wendy smiles, “You all are.”

“Sweet,” Cartman laughs.

“I’ll totally come,” I smile. “What time does it start?”

“Be there at seven,” Wendy answers.

“It’s going to be the greatest Fourth of July party in South Park,” Bebe smiles.

“Hi Rosa,” the girl I’ve never seen before waves at me. “We haven’t met before, um, I’m Nicole White. And I know how funny that is since I’m black.”

“It’s nice to me you, Nicole,” I wave back. “It’s only a tad funny.”

Nicole smiles and slightly nods. She has curly black hair put up into pigtails, a yellow sweater with a white tank top on underneath, a pink shirt, and black flats.

“Okay, we’ll be off then,” Wendy speaks up. “Leave Rosa with her boys.”

I laugh, “They aren’t my boys.”

“One of them is,” Wendy winks at me. Then she and the other girls walk off.

“I wonder what Wendy meant when she said that one of the boys here is Rosa’s?” Cartman says in the most sarcastic tone.

“Shut up,” I roll my eyes.

“You guys make it quite obvious that you like each other,” Stan says.

“Shut up.”

“When are you two going to become official?” Kyle asks.

“The first day of school,” Kenny answers.

“That’s so far away,” Cartman says.

“Not really,” I sigh. “Which sucks. I bet July is going to fly by. June flew by.”

“Probably because we’ve been playing the Stick of Truth and that makes time fly by,” Stan says.

“Hm, that makes sense.”

“Of course it makes sense,” Cartman says. “It’s so time consuming.”
