17. Chapter 17

Malia's POV

I awoke the next morning with the worst headache in history, so bad my brain feels numb. I groan and reach for the bottle of painkillers I keep next to my bed at all times for this very purpose, and to my luck it's empty. That's just fan-fucking-tastic.

I get up and slowly put on my clothes as well as robes, then start to walk though my room towards the stairs when I notice that I'm literally forgetting my wand, the most important piece in a magic class.

"Fuck," I mutter as I grab it and head down towards the great hall for breakfast, still with a killer headache.

As soon as I get there, Ron tries to talk to me but with this headache and all the memories of last night, I really just want to dig into a nice, big, steaming hot, plate of eggs.

I scarf down the hot eggs as if they were nothing, and man were they satisfying. I quickly washed the eggs down with some pumpkin juice, and headed towards potions class. I was almost out of the great hall, when I felt someone grab my wrist, cover my mouth, and pull me into a nearby broom closet.

Naturally, I panic and punch the person from behind, hard enough to make them let me go. I whipped around and was face to face with Draco. Shit.

"Malia, can we talk?" He asked, in a hushed whisper.

"Hmm, yeah, sure, nice weather we're having today. Breakfast was great, huh? Well, would you look at the time, I have to get going. Great talk though!" I said quickly, then slipped out of the broom cupboard, straight into that Ned kid. Fuck sakes.

"Oh, uh, hi," I said, awkwardly.

"What's up?" Ned asked, just as awkwardly.

"Nothing, just heading to class," I said quickly, and started to speed walk to potions.

Since I got to class early, it was just me and Professor Snape, who I recall was at the 'Death eater' meeting last night. I could feel his eyes burning into the back of my head, as I started to take out my books and lay them on the table.

"You're quite early this morning, Mrs. Lestrange" Snape said calmly, with his hands clasped together on his desk.

"Hm?" I asked, I swear he just called me 'Lestrange'.

"I said, that you're quite early this morning Mrs. Black" He said, slightly annoyed.

"Oh, uh, sorry I wasn't paying any attention," I replied calmly. I must have heard wrong, because this guy does not want to cross me or else he'll be sorry.

I quietly started doodling on a blank piece of parchment while the rest of the class slowly started flooding in, the only sound was some polite chit chat amongst others and Snape writing our lesson on the blackboard. Eventually Ron came and sat next to me, and judging by the way he looked, he was not in the mood to chat.

It was when Draco came in that things got awkward, I could feel both his and Snape's eyes on me. Ron cleared his throat and Snape started the lesson that he wrote on the blackboard. About ten minutes into the lesson, Ron handed me a folded up piece of parchment from under the desk, The note read:

'Why won't Malfoy & Snape stop staring you?'

I looked Ron in eye and shrugged, pretending that I didn't know. He let out a small sigh as he proceeded to copy the notes from the board. When class ended I headed straight to Herbology, where I saw Ned talking to professor Sprout.

On his way out of the greenhouse I gave a quick nod and said, "Sup Ned?"

"It's Neville," he said chuckling

"Well, it's Ned now," I laughed walking into the greenhouse.

There I was greeted by a frantic Cora,

"Malia!" She panicked.

"Oh my gosh, Cora! Are you okay?" I asked concerned. She shook her head 'no', and I grabbed her arm, pulling her out of the greenhouse. We walked far enough away, and I pulled her into a tight hug.

"Okay, so who's the bitch that I gotta yell at?" I asked, looking her in the eye.

"It's no one, just Draco hasn't been himself lately. He won't talk to me, and when he does he calls me a 'mudblood' and he just acts like I don't exist!" She said, crying harder.

It hurt seeing her like this, but I couldn't tell her why he was being like this. A part of me wanted it to be just a bad dream, but it's not. He has to act like that, or he'll most likely be killed by 'daddy' and not his daddy, mine.
