New Dawn

Emma and Melanie have returned from Narnia, but they aren't the same person they were. Things have changed them, and they won't be the same, and how will they face the real world knowing that they will never see Patten and Holter again.

This is the second book in the New Series the last book was New Kingdom, so if you haven't read that book, you should start there. This is a Narnian Fanfiction - thank you.

13. The Adventures of Kid and Grand-pa

"Ugh, I miss technology!" Tomi groaned. She was all sprawled out on Emma's thrown holding her phone in the air. "Work, work you stupid phone. Ugh why couldn't I have been sent to a world with cell service!" Tomi put the back of her wrist against her forehead as if she was going to faint. She looked at me like she was in pain as I began to laugh. "You dare laugh at me. The best friend of the high queen of Narnia should not be laughed at!" She snapped her fingers at me.

"You know people can survive without technology?"

Tomi half dangled off the thrown, "Really, who?"

"Me for example, my brother, your best friend, the high queen of Narnia and her sister... and everyone else in Narnia."

Tomi rolled her eyes at me "Yeah.. well... I can't. And I know a lot of people who couldn't either." She snapped again. I laughed as I unsheathed my sword to polish. Tomi perked up when she saw it.

"Ooo, are we gonna spar again?" She did jazz hands.

"No" I said sternly, looking up at her, "May I remind you what happened the last time. I am not a very good teacher and I could quite possibly hurt you again." Tomi sighed dramatically.

"Fine, I'll just have to teach myself." Tomi said standing up slowly.

"You do that." I said sarcastically. Tomi frowned and sat back down. The only sound in the room was the constant groaning of Tomi.

After I finished polishing the sword I stood up and stretched. "Well I think it's about time to get to bed."

"Uh, no thanks Grand-pa." She smirked at her clever nickname.

"No not Grandpa, Grand-pa. You know Grand cause you're old, not grand as in great. And pa is short for Patten so that makes Grand-pa."

"Okay, whatever you say, kid. But we have to go to bed."

"Are you going to bed?"

"No, of course not."

"Than I'm not either."

"Yes you are. I am 100 years older than you, you have to do what I say."

"Fine, but my leg is injured you will have to carry me to my room."

I walked over to Emma's thrown and hoisted Tomi off of it. I started to carry her to her room- which was all the way on the other side of the castle. "I kindda like this place." Tomi said wrapping her arm around my neck.

"I would have never guessed." I said as I sprinted for her room. Once we arrived to her room I set Tomi on the bed and began to leave the room.

"How could Emma be so interested in such an old man?"

"Good night." I said laughing. I walked upstairs to my room were a fresh pair of clothes and a soft bed were awaiting me. I changed into the clothes and jumped onto the bed. Before I got the chance to fall asleep I heard a loud shriek which was impressive considering the walls were practically sound proof.

I sprinted towards the sound which I discovered was coming from Tomi's room. I burst through the door to find a screaming Tomi sitting on the floor in a pile of blood. "WHAT HAPPENED?!"

Tomi stopped screaming and looked up at me with innocent puppy-dog eyes, "Oh nothing, I just spilled my wine." I sighed with relief. "You can just leave." I turned to leave, "Wait! Get me a towel first." I got a towel from the wash room and tossed it to her. As I made my way back upstairs I heard Tomi scream again.

"Grand-pa!" She screamed.

"Just go to sleep already!" I yelled down the stairs. Tomi screamed again but then it was silent. That's more like it. I got back to my room and slowly fell asleep. The night was filled with dreams of pirates.
