New Dawn

Emma and Melanie have returned from Narnia, but they aren't the same person they were. Things have changed them, and they won't be the same, and how will they face the real world knowing that they will never see Patten and Holter again.

This is the second book in the New Series the last book was New Kingdom, so if you haven't read that book, you should start there. This is a Narnian Fanfiction - thank you.

Melanie:

In the weeks it took us to find Patten, Jura, Emma and the rest; Emma was feeling a lot better. She looked good to, except for all the scars. Whens she saw me she walked limply to hug me. I embraced her gently but I knew my touch pained her.

"You feel cold," she said stepping backwards, "come, sit by the fire." I obeyed and sat between her and Patten.

"How are you feeling." I asked her.

"Better every day. Soon I will be able to teach Alana a lesson."

I was confused, "I'm sorry who's Alana again?"

Brooke stepped into the conversation. "Alana, what has she done?"

"Alana is the one who ordered for me to be killed, twice! She ordered for Melanie to be killed by Jura but once they escaped she shot her with a potion that made her forget. She thought that killed Melanie so she sent Holter after "her killer dragon". She got the pirates to kid nap Tomi and sent guards after Patten." Emma paused and stared at the fire. Tomi, Holter, and Julionna joined us by the fire. "She's behind everything, she wants us dead so she can be queen."

No one said anything so I stood up, "Well, there's got to be a complement in there somewhere...So what are we going to do about it?" All eyes looked up at me. No one answered.

Tomi broke the silence, "If you haven't noticed we aren't in good shape. Plus, she has an army of thousands and there's only ten of us."

"Well, we have to come up with something. What's her name can't get away with the things she's done to us. Brooke isn't there anyone who could help us."

Brooke thought for a moment then said, "No, I don't think there is anyone. I am sorry." I nodded sitting back down playing with my thumbs. Stretching, my back hit Jura, and the diamond bottle dug into my side.

"Hey, Emma... Do you want some of the potion - It might help you heal faster?” I said taking it out of its case and turning it over in my hands. Emma's eyes lit up as I passed her the flask. Taking a tiny drink, she passed it back, and I watched in awe as the scars that covered her body disappeared as they were being covered with new - equally pail skin. She handed me back the flask and stood up, a jump in her step.

"Ah! This feels good!" She exclaimed, jumping higher then twisting and stretching, Patten watched a smile on his face. "Come on, I need to spar." She said. Patten got up and took his sword of it's scabbard. Emma readied herself on the other side of the fire, using her two identical swords instead of the long white one. They circled around twice then Patten lunged forward, swinging his sword. The fight went on, and on, and on; and neither Emma or Patten were getting tired. I looked away from their sparring session to see Holter looking at me. I blushed and quickly looked away. A couple seconds later Holter was sitting next to me; he looked nervous, his leg thumping up and down, chewing on his lip, his eyes on me. "Hey..."

"Hey." I replied looking away from him and into the fire.

"I know this was a while ago now... but I am sorry for trying to kiss you." He said sheepishly scooting closer to me.

"It's fine." I said tensing up a little bit.

"No, it's not fine." He said sternly. "I am too carefree around you... we were married for heaven’s sake!" he leaned forward, putting his elbows on his knees, his head falling between his shoulders. "And it's hard... it's hard not touching you. I'm sorry you are probably creeped out by me now." he said softly.

"I'm not creeped out. I just feel lost. Just give me time." I said, I wanted to comfort him in some way, but the only way that came to mind was to hug him as tightly as I could. So, I did it. I hugged him. His body tensed up at first, but then his arms were around me and he was holding me to him, his face buried in my neck.

I saw Aslan, he stood on an alter in front of me. A faceless figure stood beside me holding my hand. I stared at him, though he had no face I could tell he was smiling. Aslan spoke, "Do you Melanie...."

The memory faded just as quickly as it came. Tears formed in my eyes.

"Are you okay?" Holter asked

"I just remembered something." I answered, wiping some of the tears off my face.

"Was it a good memory?" He asked, running a hand down my arm and back up it again in a reassuring way. I nodded, a smile playing on my lips.

"Yes." I said as more tears started to fall, blurring my vision. "It was a good memory, I think. It was a wedding."

"Yeah?" He asked, running a hand down my back, laying his chin on my head.

"Yeah..." I answered and he leaned his head so his lips were next to my ear.

"I do!" I said with a smile. Aslan nodded then looked at the faceless figure. I could a see a nose start, mouth and eyes start to form. It looked somewhat like Holter

"You may now kiss the bride." Aslan said, a crowd starting cheering but they were nowhere to be seen.

The memory fell from my vision like mist off a waterfall, leaving me breathless.

/Awww!!!/ Jura said through our mental link, and I pushed her thoughts smugly away. /I knew you two would get back together. /

/Yeah sure.... / I answered.
