3. Stewed Fruit

Ingredients

Brown Sugar

Water

Best fruits to use: Peeled cooking apples, Blackberries, Raisins, Sultanas, Rhubarb

Can use fruits: Raspberries, Strawberries, Peaches, Plums, Cherries

Don't use fruits: Bananas, Oranges, Lemons, Limes, Pineapples, Kiwi, Passion fruit, Avocado, etc 

 

Method

1) Fill a pan with 10cm of water and bring it to a simmer

2) Chop fruits and pour into the water

3) Add approximately two cups of brown sugar (feel free to adjust the amount of sugar depending on how much fruit you use)

4) Stir frequently with a wooden spoon until soft

5) Let the mixture cool for ten minutes

6) Strain the mixture through a sieve and serve while hot or store in air tight container in fridge

 

Tips: This mixture can be used for crumbles and pies. Served cold, it can be used for pavlovers. Alternately, mix with custard and serve warm.
