8. Great(ed) Bolognese


 

Ingredients

500g Mince meat

1-2 Onions

2-4 cloves of garlic

3 Carrots

2 Peppers

5-7 Mushrooms

2 Cans of tinned tomatoes

OR

1 Jar of pizza topping and 1 Can of tinned tomatoes

Herbs and spices

 

Method

1) Cook your mince meat in a large frying pan or wok until brown all the way through. Once brown, take the meat out of the pan and drain away the fat that remains.

2) Peel your carrots and garlic and core your peppers.

3) Grate all of your vegetables, even the mushrooms.

4) Prepare your onions normally.

5) Put your grated vegetables, onions, can of tomatoes, pizza topping and mince meat into your pan and cook until it bubbles.

6) Add any herbs and spices you like. I use basil, oregano and salt.

7) Cook until you are happy with it. The time it takes to cook can depend on the cooker and your personal taste. I find that it takes about an hour.

 

Tip: This recipe is great for sneaking vegetables to fussy eaters. The vegetables listed are just the ones that I use normally but you can use almost anything e.g coriander. If I have any left over sausages or bacon, I like to cut them up and add them in as well. Just have fun with it!

Once cooked, the recipe can also be frozen and reheated in the microwave at a later date.
