What Came After The End

What happened after The Blood of Olympus?
The seven strongest of our age,
must settle the debt of a maid en-caged.
They'll travel far and make a trade,
but fail to stop the dagger's blade.

7. The Battle of Charm

In the middle of the night Calypso woke up. Girls were still stumbling into the cabin from late night dates past curfew. Calypso felt completely awake, not tired at all. She struggled to remember what had happened that day. Leo. She needed to find him. Why hadn't she. She remembered spending the day with Piper which had been fun, but she'd never found Leo. She remember the day with more detail then usual. Each time an activity had become dull and boring, Piper had made a new suggestion that seemed to clear her mind, relax her nerves, and leave her floating after Piper without a care in the world or thought as to what she was doing. At the end of the day Piper had told her how tired she was and Calypso felt as though she had inhaled sleeping powder. She had never been so tired. Something about Piper's voice was powerful. Calypso would obey her ever word without a second thought. Charm speak. That must be what it was. She needed to find Leo. Getting out of bed she crept to the door.

"Calypso, what are you doing?" Piper asked sleepily. Calypso had to act fast or the charm speak might be used to keep her here.

"Thank you for trying to protect me, but I need to find Leo." Calypso whispered.

"Wait Calypso," she could hear the charm speak now that she was look for it, but it was weak. Calypso took a step towards Piper, unable to resist, before working her own magic. An ancient lullaby sing by sirens. It had no words but Calypso knew the tune well. Piper had never heard the song and on the first sweet note she sat up straighter. She opened her mouth to finish her sentence but couldn't utter a word. She couldn't think to blink or close her mouth now that the lullaby had begun. But if Calypso didn't finish the lullaby then Piper would wake up and the spell would be broken. Already she was walking back to her bed slowly, with the charm speak's magic still at work. But Piper's eyes had become an unreal blue, practically growing. Her mind was turned over to the singer, weakening the charm speak. Piper couldn't look away as Calypso sang louder to finish the song. Neither had noticed the other girls awake in the cabin were equally entranced. Less then a minute left and Piper's eyes were closing, her shoulders slumped forward and she started to nod off. Once the last note of the song hung in the air her head hit the pillow.

"I'm sorry," Calypso whispered feeling guilty. Now everyone else in the cabin was sound asleep and she didn't have a second to lose. Calypso ran outside headed for the woods.
