24. Mission Impossible

“You want to break into the largest museum on the planet?” I nodded as I opened the blueprints, “It’s where the metronome is.” “Yes, but I’m not in the mood of dying.” I laughed as the words left his mouth, “You’re already dead stupid.” I heard a rustle of fabric, and as I turned around he was getting undressed. I put my hand over my eyes, “Um, Dasim what are you doing?” He started laughing, “Just making some adjustments to my clothing.” I turned a little as his pants dropped to the floor, “What, you can’t handle my sexiness?” I nearly gaged as my eyes looked at him, “No, more like you’re grossness.”

I turned my attention to the blueprints in front of me, and as I looked at them my mind was blank. I had no idea how to get into a place like that, I would need help breaking into this, and even though I was trained as a professional by my gypsy aunts and uncles this one had me stunned. “Maybe I can help,” the voice was feminine, but was a little on the deeper side. I turned to see a woman with black shoulder length hair, green eyes, and her skin was so pale I was sure if she stood in front of a white back ground she would blend in. She was dressed in a skintight black body suit, and she was standing in the door way. I turned my complete attention to this woman, “Can I help you with something?” The woman was on the thin side, but not stick thin. She walked toward me, and Dasim stepped in her way. “Angel........I like angels. Your kind taste delicious.”

Dasim stepped back a little, and then he raised his wings. Big red bat wings raised right in front of his. He slowly lowered them, and started to step away from her. He turned slowly and as he did the wings that stood behind him started to lower. “Nora, meet Dita Von Reese,” she smiled showing perl white teeth. She walked over to me holding her hand out, and as I took it her eyes flashed red. I pulled away quickly, “Firestarter and a seer, thats an odd combination.” I couldn’t think straight as the words came from her mouth, “What the hell is a firestarter?” She looked confused as I was sure I did, but her face softened and began to speak. “A firestarter is a demon that has the ability to make their body go into flames to keep them safe. Although they can take care of themselves, their power is a curse to them.”

“Why is it a curse to them? I thought the power was a gift.” She ran her fingers through her hair, “It’s a girl and a curse, the curse comes to play when they use their fire. If they become to hot they burn themselves alive.” Fear raced through me as the words left her mouth, and I lowered my head. “That depends on how strong your core is. Now, lets get down to business.” I pushed my hair out of my face, “Well, first what are you.” She looked back at from the blueprints, “I’m a succubus.” I stepped back from her, “Don’t worry I only target men.” I relaxed a little, but felt bad for Dasim. The poor guy was just staring at her, and then I caught it. His face was a little redder than usual, and his face had softened. I walked over to him hitting him on the arm, “What’s the story with you too?” He looked down at me, “There’s nothing to tell between us.” His voice was soft, and I could tell by his body language he was hurting. I turned back to Dita, and came up beside her, “So what’s the plan?”

She looked over at me and smiled this time her grin was nothing but razor sharp teeth. That’s when lights started flashing in front of my eyes, and everything went white. I put my hands over them trying to block out the lights. As I removed them I found myself standing in the middle of a dark room. I wasn’t really sure how I got there, but nor Dasim or Dita were in site. I around the room to notice a sign, “Federal museum of artifacts.” Oh my god, I was in the museum. The question was how I got here, and then Dita ran past me.

She stopped turning to me, “Come on I got it.” I looked in her arm to see the metronome, “How, Why?” She grabbed me by the wrist pulling me out of the museum. As the cool night air hit me I closed my eyes as she took the air. She was moving fast, and to the left I spotted Dasim. His white wings flapping hard against the air, but then he screamed. I watched him fall out of the sky, and Dita stopped turning going back to where he was. As she flew over the area he had fell I spotted him, but he was fighting someone. She flew to the ground so fast that I had to close my eyes from the impact. As she touched the ground she let go of me, and the metronome. I looked down at the metronome, and something in me was telling me to pick it up.

I leaned down taking it into my hands, and the sky began to cloud. The wind became heavy, and the people that were fighting Dasim and Dita fell into ash. They looked back at me, and judging by their expressions I must look terrifying. Then everything went dark. A small voice in my head started to speak, “My power is yours.”
