19. Mental Breakdown

I was hurting inside, but I wouldn’t let that pain come out again. Doom looked as if he was a little confused at my reaction. “I’m fine. You’d be surprised on what I’ve been through.” I was lying I was close to a mental breakdown, and I knew it would come either way I did things. My heart was pumping hard in my chest, and despite my efforts to calm down. I wasn’t calm. I looked into his eyes, and his face was stiff. “Don’t lie to me, I can sense your pain.” I swallowed pushing the tears back, “I’m fine, I told you that.” He put his hand on my face, “Don’t you ever lie to me again, now let it out.” He tried to pull me into his arm, but I refused to the offer. “No, just stop.” The tears were on the edge of my eyes, “Why won’t you let yourself feel pain?”

The tears came out as those words left his mouth, “Because It’s my fault!” I got off of the bed, and walked to the middle of the room. “It’s you’re fault for what? You’ve done nothing........” I turned around fast, “It’s my fault she’s like that, I’m the one that killed her!” My voice was shaking, and my thought were swimming. I looked down at my hands, and they were stained with blood. I dropped to the ground closing my eyes, the pain got worse. A small voice in my head started to speak, soft and slowly to me. “Why would you blame yourself for something you didn’t do? You didn’t make her turn that way. She chose it.” The words were no help to the things that I was feeling, and I blocked it out. Iron came over to me over the floor, and he tried to wrap his arms around me. I tried to resist his embrace, but was wrapped in his warmth.

“Don’t blame yourself. It’ll make it worse. I know exactly what your feeling.” Anger rushed through me, and I pulled out of his arms. “How would you know what I’m feeling! You’ve been alive for years and my mothers been dead!” His face went from soft to stern, “I just know what you’re feeling.” I got to my feet, “You know nothing about pain! You’re immortal!” “Yes, but I’m also human! Do you think I chose to be like this!” His voice was in a yell, and as I looked back at him; his eyes were flashing between black and green. “Being immortal is cool, but I watched all my family die in front of my eyes! Do you know how that feels!” He ran his hands through his hair, “No, you’ve lost your mother, but I’ve lost everyone!”

He was crying, Iron was crying. I made him cry, oh no. He was pacing the floor, and he scared me as he punched the stone wall. I fell to the floor, and hung my head low. “I’m sorry.............I’m so sorry,” I whispered the words as my eyes started burning. I heard footsteps come close to me, and a finger touched my chin. Lifting it up so that I was looking directly at him. “You don’t know the pain I have felt.” He leaned down and pecked me on the lips, “Pain is something you know nothing of.” He rose back up, and exited the room. He was mad at me, I made him mad at me. I put my head in my hands, sobbing into them. I had touched my shoulder, and I looked up to see Sugo. “He’s mad at me, why do have to hurt everyone I’m around?” She smiled, “My dear he’s not hurt, he’s angry. You forget he lost his mother too, and then he watched everyone die around him.” She crossed her arms, “You don’t know the meaning of pain.”

I wiped my face, and she held out a hand. I grabbed it, and pulled myself up. I looked around the room to see that Sugo was gone. I walked out of the room into the hallway, but Iron wasn’t anywhere to be seen. I had to apologize, I couldn’t things like this. I heard glass shatter, and it was coming from a room down the darkest hall I’d ever seen. I wasn’t afraid of the dark, but that hallway just gave me bad vibes. I slowly stepped into the darkness, and it was like stepping into a pit of water with sharks. I couldn’t see anything, I was walking blind. I heard something growl behind me, and I stopped looking behind me. I didn’t want to be that one girl that checks out the creepy sounds, but I couldn’t help it. “Hello, is someone there?” There was no answer, there was nothing but darkness.

I went to the walls feeling them, and then there was another growl. I pushed away, and although I couldn’t see I could feel the presence of something in front of me. It was breathing heavily, and then another growl sounded through the darkness. The sound came right from in front of me. I held out my hands, and they touched a face. I ran my hands over it’s face, and this was a face I knew. It was Irons. It was different from before, it felt like the cracks were on his. His skin was hot to the touch, and light started to grow in the darkness. I looked around to see where the flames were coming from, and I found out where. It was me, I was making it. Iron was in front of me, but the cracks on his body were closed. I looked up into his eyes, and it was Iron his eyes were green. “How do you have these, Doom?” “I told you I was cursed.......Doom has nothing to do with that.” I let my hands fall to his shoulder, “What is this?” His hands went to my waist, “This a price for immortality, ever 500 years my body starts to crack. I can’t escape it.” I looked up into his eyes, “That’s it? It doesn’t seem like much of a curse.” “I have to eat human meat or I will starve. It’s why I lock myself down here.”

I swallowed hard, “Where do you get the human meat?” He lifted his hand and rubbed his thumb across my cheeks, “I don’t hunt people if thats what you’re implying. I already have meat here.” I smiled up at him, “Thank god.” “There is one thing that is a pleasure.” A grin spread across his face, and I finally noticed that he was shirtless. “Can you love a monster like me?” I wrapped my arms around his neck, “I’m already in love with a monster.”

I kissed him, and for the first time It felt like I had all of them. His hands went to my waist, and before I knew it I was off the ground. I wrapped my legs around him, and the bulge in his pants let me know exactly what he was talking about. I pulled back taking in air, “That is a very big benefit of the curse.” He laughed, “Yeah, I thought you would like it.” Our lips met again, and lifted my body higher up on him. He was my Demon,  and mine only.
