6. Close Encounter

She loosened her grip just enough so I could speak, “What......What do you want.” Her grip tightened, “You’ve got nerve shapeshifter. You will not make Iron weak with this face.” I was a little confused at what Alice meant, and I guess she noticed. She picked me up off the floor, and I’m not gonna lie I wasn’t particularly light. She carried me over to a arm chair in the corner, and as her hand came from around my neck I tried to run. I couldn’t move a muscle, and she began laughing at me. “You can go ahead and change back into your natural form.”

“I am in my natural form,” I screamed in response! I didn’t know what she meant by that, but I knew I had to answer. She crossed her arms, “You want to be forced to shift, then so be it.” She disappeared into the kitchen, and as she returned with the knife shelf fear went through me. I couldn’t breathe, it was like I was suffocating. I took deep breaths to try to slow my heart rate, but as Alice pulled the butcher knife out of its sheath I stopped breathing. “Please, what do you want from me!” She leaned down in front of me whispering, “Shifters like you are punished for your crimes.”

She ran her fingers over the knife, and then put it on my arm. “I hear shifters like you have great blood. I wonder how you taste.” She pushed hard on the knife moving it quickly cutting my arm, and pain went through me. Tears were building up in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. She sat the knife on the floor, and wiped the blood off onto her finger. She popped it in her mouth, and she seemed to be disgusted. She stood slowly starring at me, and then she motion her finger for me to come. Without even moving a muscle my body floated over to her, and she turned going to bathroom. I floated closely behind her, she looked in the mirror for a few seconds.

She turned on the water to the bathtub, and she turned to me smiling. “You certainly get into you acts shifter, but I doubt you can withstand water.” When it was filled enough she cut the water off, and I felt my body turn horizontal, and I looked down to see water under me. She let her hands fall, and I crashed into the water. I couldn’t move at all, and I felt my body tense. I was terrified, and my air was running out. I opened my mouth, and water flooded my mouth. I felt water filling up my lungs, and my eyes began to close.

“Flames were everywhere, and screams echoed through the field. War was everywhere, and bombs were bursting left to right. Fog rose over the land, and the thing that walked through it was huge. It had two huge horns on top of his head, red skin, and a huge black tail that swung behind him. He had to stand about seven feet, and I hardly noticed that he was approaching me. He stopped in front of me, and his huge eyes looked down at me. “A battle field is no place for a woman,” his voice was deep and husky.  Someone snatched my arm pulled me around, and I was met by a woman that I had never saw before. She starred into my face, and then everything around me started to go black. I was standing in the middle of  nothing, and then my eyes came open.

I was met by the face of Iron, and he wrapped his arms around me. I was crying my eyes out, and I barley noticed that he had picked me up out of the tub. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and I was coughing struggling for air. He put his hand on my head, and he sat me down on a couch. “Are you alright?” I swallowed hard, “I’m not fine! Who was that!” He grabbed my hand, “She was a phantom. I’m sorry she even got to you.” His face was soft, almost as if he cared.  I pulled away from him, “I had everything under control.” He snorted, “Not from where I’m standing.”

I looked at him in confusion, and I blushed as he smiled. “I’m sorry, we need to get you somewhere safe. This isn’t safe.” I nodded without thinking, and I looked down at his attire. He was dressed normally, and he took off the coat he had on and handed it to me. I stood slowly putting it on, and as I did my heart skipped a beat as I looked at his exposed arms. I put my hands over my face, and he smiled at me. “Come on, the limo is waiting.” He grabbed my hand and led me out of the building, and as the white limo came into view I froze. Everyone on the street was starring at us, and Iron pulled me forward.

The driver opened the door for us, and Iron let me get in first then followed. “She’s been taken care of just so you know.” I looked up at him, “I know you said that demons existed, but I didn’t think they would come after me.” He sighed moving closer to me, “Maria, the person that you look like, my wife wasn’t sweet to everyone. She wasn’t cursed just like me.” I nodded, “Cursed, how did you get cursed?” He crossed his legs, “I was cursed to fell pain every time I get angry, but I can control it now.” I nodded, “So you have a darker side. Why do you bleed when you do that thing you do?” H smiled, “It’s not my blood, it’s the blood of the people I’ve killed.”

I was little disgusted, but kept a straight face. “So Maria loved you regardless, demon or not.” He smiled looking at the floor, “Yes, she loved me even though I was doomed to nothing but pain.” I blushed, “Thats sweet of her. You deserve happiness, you look like a god.” I put my hands over my mouth, I couldn’t believe that I just had said that. Iron was smiling, “Thank you, you have things Maria didn’t have.” I was intrigued by what he meant, “What is that?” “You’re sassier than she was. I like it.” I started laughing at the smile that spread across his face. Was he flirting with me, either way I didn’t mind what he was doing?

I let my mind drift away from what just happened, and focused on Iron. He was very childish to be over 300 years old, he flirted like he was a 18 year old. “He’ll never want you. He just wants you because you look like me.” The voice sounded through my skull, but I ignored it still focusing on Iron. I may be crazy, but this man, Iron, He made me feel safe. The door opened, and Iron climbed out.

I followed closely after, and he helped my out of the car. “You’re nothing but another me.” The voice was louder this time, and it was feminine. I ignored it again, but Iron seemed to know what I had heard. “Don’t worry, it’s nothing but your inner core. She’s not really there.” I smiled and followed him back into the mansion. I skimmed the room, and as I turned to Iron he was going up the stairs. I looked on the top of stairwell to see a woman that looked exactly like me standing there. “Iron, do you not see her.” He looked back at me the at the top of the stairwell, “See who?” I may be crazy, but I’m positive that Maria was standing right there. She appeared in front of me, “You’ll never have him.”
