32. Birth Of The Future

The pain was intense, so intense that each time it hit me I had to stop moving. Iron was calm we moved down the room, and he was very calm when I stopped. I could tell that every time that he was excited as I was, and when we made it to the room he picked me up. I knew that I wasn’t light, but Iron seemed to not have a problem with it. He laid me down on a stone table, and as I looked up I saw the sky. It was still night down here, and the stars were more beautiful and close than they would have been at my dorm. Another wave of pain hit me as H. walked in, and he seemed rather calm also. I couldn’t think on an answer why they all were so calm. H. said something in a language that I didn’t understand, and Iron spoke back. He put his hands on my stomach, and his eyes went black. “They’re coming, and they’re coming fast.” I was dressed in only a shirt, and he grabbed my legs pushing them open. H. looked down there, and he looked at Iron. I’ll call the birth committee.” He nodded and then H. made the most dreadful sound I had ever heard.

Four dogs ran in, and as I was about ask why they were they quickly  turned into women. All of them looked alike, the difference between them was that they all had different color hair. They came to stand on each side of me rubbing my arms, “You may leave now we’ll call for you when it’s done.” The nodded and made their way out, and the blonde headed one looked at me. “My name is Merthedies, I’m gonna need you to push with all your might okay,” I nodded as pain hit me again. The two girls beside me helped me up into a sitting position, “Okay, push.” I pushed with all my might, “I see the head. Come on, give it one more big push.” I did what she asked, and I pushed again this time harder that the other. I heard something start crying, and tears ran down my face as I saw the baby in her arms. She cut the umbilical cord, “He’s beautiful.” Another wave of pain hit me, “It’s another one……coming.” She looked surprised, but hurried back to me handing a the newborn to other girl beside her. Her eyes met mine, “Okay, give me another push.”

I pushed a little hard, and my breathe caught. “I see the head, give one more big push.” I pushed as hard a I could, and crying began to fill the room. She cut umbilical cord, and wrapped the baby in a pink blanket. I looked over to the crib to notice that the other one was wrapped in a blue blanket. The two girls lowered me back onto the stone table, and they walked over to me with the babies. They handed me both of them smiling, “Congratulations, you have a healthy baby girl and  baby boy.” The stone door opened, and in walked Iron. His eyes were dark as he entered, but as he looked at me they lit up. As he came over to me he nodded at the women, and they made they’re way out. He came to stand beside me, “They’re beautiful. Can I?” I nodded offering the girl to him, and as he had her in his arms he smiled. He had the most bright smile on his face. “So, what do you want to name them?” I looked up at him, “I don’t know.” I looked up at the stars, and they were beautiful. “My mother used to tell me that the stars were based off of people.” I looked down at the baby in arms, “What about Castor, and Pollux.” I looked up at him and he smiling brightly, “It’s perfect for them, but I think she’s hungry.”

I looked down at Castor, “Yeah I think you’re right.” I used my free hand to unbutton the shirt, and as I put him up to my breast he locked down. It was a surprise at first, but as Iron put the Pollux on I got used to it. “Do you think that everything will be somewhat normal now?” He kissed my head, “I don’t know, but I promise that I will protect you and our children even if it kills me.” He pecked me on the lips, “Same to you Iron.” He put his forehead on mine, “I don't know what I would do without you.” I loved his soft side, “I don’t know what I would do either.” My life before I met Iron was a mess, I wasn’t happy. When I met him I felt like I belonged, I felt like I was wanted. I barley see my father, and my mother wasn’t that alive until now. Iron made me feel safe, loved, and wanted. “Do you think that prophecy will come true?”

He kissed my forehead, “I don’t know, that’s what the future holds.” I smiled, “I hope the future holds something bright.” He nodded, “It does.” As he sunk to one knee my heart pounded in my chest. “I was trying to find a good time for this, and right now couldn’t be more perfect.” I felt tears running down my face, “Nora Lovely will make me the happiest man in the world and be my bride?” I nodded, “Yes, of course yes.” As he reached into his pocket for the ring I was a lost for words. The ring consist of two diamond in the shape of a heart, and as he slid it onto my fingers I was the happiest person in the world. Our lips met in a kiss, the sweetest kiss i’ve ever had with him. I pulled back just enough to speak, “The future does hold something bright.”
