As soon as the two walked into the town, someone stopped them. She was tall, had bright pink hair and wore red armour. “Hey Ashley." She looked up at them with her red eyes and pale face. “Don't say that, I'm on duty! Who's this?" Ashley pointed at Cynthia. “I'm Kagedorcha." Sergio nodded. “I called you a couple of days ago to inform the office about the shadowmancer's return." Ashley nodded. “Took you a while, what's with the hold up?" Sergio looked up. “With all due respect ma'am, that's strictly confidential."

Ashley nodded and let them pass. “She's not as tough as she lets on." Sergio whispered to Cynthia as they walked on, “she's willing to one day become the chief of police." Cynthia looked back one more time at the armoured woman. “She's also a fire Mage, so if anyone messes with her, chances are they'll get burned." Ashley heard him and smirked and blew out flames in response.

Cynthia sighed and gripped Sergio's hand. “It feels so weird. All these people use thief magic as if it's the norm, I don't even know how to control mine." Sergio stared as she shook in the presence of all the Mages. He knelt down beside her. “Hey, it's going to be okay, every Mage goes through this phase." Cynthia sighed and stood up again. “Let's just go…"

Sergio let Cynthia hold his hand as they walked down. “They came across many differently coloured mages using all sorts of magic. “Not too far from here," he whispered to her, “we'll be fine." Cynthia looked at the shops she past. There were normal shops, like clothes and food, but there was also different shops. Like antiques, scrolls and potions. “Some Mages have magic that allows them to be spell-casters, they're very popular in this district."

Cynthia walked on. The road was empty of all cars, but Mages from all different species flew around. “We don't use cars, only in the mortal realm." Cynthia nodded in awe. “I see." People stared at this new girl as she walked on beside the ice warrior. “Why are they staring?" Sergio looked. Some were speaking alongside each other and sniggered. “Don't mind them, it's just that the new Scathanna girl is hanging with me, the warrior of solitude."

“Warrior of solitude?" Sergio nodded. “Yes, you see, in this realm, I'm infamous for working alone and befriending next to no one." Cynthia had no idea. “How did I never know?" Sergio smirked. “I know, I didn't tell you because I couldn't trust you, I can't trust anyone, but there's something's both you I like, but I don't know what it is, but I know it's something special." Cynthia couldn't understand but went along anyway.

The two then made it to the end of the town. There was a grey building that was bigger than the rest of them. It had a tall front gate that slowly opened as they stepped towards the building. “Here we are." Cynthia looked up. “Very… big." Sergio laughed at her response. “It's an institute and a school at the same time, think of it as a boarding school as you will." Cynthia and Sergio walked down the gravel path.

Suddenly. Someone rushed out of the door to greet them. She was a dark skinned lady with black hair and green eyes. She ran up to see them. “Howdy partner. Names Maya! Resident shapeshifter and as of now, Dean of the I.F.O.M.W.R.A! You must be Kagedorcha!" Cynthia nodded and slowly took out her hand. Maya grabbed it and shook it so hard, Cynthia thought her arm was going to fall off. “My apologies for my suspicious optimism, I'm just flattered to be taking a Scathanna under my institute!"

Cynthia pulled her hand back. “Well, she's weird." Cynthia thought, but she tried to look friendly towards Maya. “Who's your travelling companion?" Cynthia looked at Sergio as he replied. “It's nothing important my lady, I was just leaving, good day." Sergio turned and started to leave. Cynthia ran after him.

“Wait! You're leaving?" Sergio nodded. “I believe my work here is done, but first." Sergio took out something and handed it to her. “My hat!" Sergio smiled. “Yep, I found it in his lair, you might as well have something from the mortal realm." Cynthia looked down and hugged Sergio. He was taken by surprise by her sudden action. “I'll miss you…" Sergio wrapped his arms around her too. “Me too, now run along Kage, they're waiting for you."

Cynthia let go of him to look back at Maya waiting patiently. When she looked back Sergio was gone. “Just when you think you know a guy, he teleports away forever." Cynthia sighed and walked back towards the building. Maya took Cynthia by the arm and led her into the building. “I'll show you around and then we'll get you settled."

*Two months later*

Kagedorcha sighed and took out her mirror. “Girls, hey, you there?" The crystal turned red and both Ella and Syren picked up. “What has our girl been up to?" Syren asked. Cynthia shrugged as she sat on her bed. “Practicing my magic, finally getting used to all this magic realm stuff, but rumour has it that's there's going to be a new guy soon." Ella smirked. “Sounds great, you should be the first to meet him." Cynthia nodded. “I'll introduce him, the way only a shadowmancer can!"
