Whispers of the Wolves

Two sets of four life long friends grow up in a seemingly normal life, until one day, things catch fire without a match, things move without being picked up, they can hear things miles away, and they see things that are never meant to be seen. Then one day a mysterious stranger comes telling them that they are destine to save the world that they grew up in, and the world that they belong to; one where the animals talk, mountians get up and move, and magic is everywhere. Given a quest to find the hidden Shifters, they go on a quest of a lifetime, learning more about themselves and the meaning of family as they battle dark demons, old wizards and witches gone bad, and their own mental challenges and friend ship challenges too.

22. Chapter 17 -

Abby and Courtney looked back to the portal expecting to see Zach walk though the portal alone. What they saw shocked them even more.

Hazel walked through the portal alone, with Zach tumbling through behind.

"Now I'm sure you're a demon!"  He yelled at her.  The first sign of emotion against Zach appeared in Hazel's eyes.

"I am no demon.  I am not the filth that lay at the bottom of Hell.  I have committed no sin."  Her voice was even, but every word whipped the air.

"It is very clear you are of Dark Magic.  I should never have brought you to our Magic Realm.  Now you know how to get in, now you know where to bring the Dark Troops.

"I am no servant of the Dark Lord.  I am no being of Dark Magic."  Hazel's voice was still even, though her eyes began to change.  Her whole body transforming before their eyes.

Armor grew from her cloths, and a head piece wove itself from her hair.  Her eyes went from dark brown to a brilliant, piercing blue.  But even with all of that, the most stunning part of the transformation were the blood red wings that grew from her back.  A magical Aura burst from her so powerful everyone flinched.

With all of this power now in the Magic Realm, the popping and whooshing of all Magics could be heard.  Within a few seconds, every Magic in the Realm had gathered around.  A tall man with sunglasses stepped forward.

"Who are you?  What are you?"  He demanded in a stern but bewildered voice.

"I am Hazel.  I am no other being, but who you call Hazel.  I am a friend and an ally, but you man, Zach has insulted me in the most profound way possible."

     "What are you?"  Taeron repeated.

"I am a Magic that lived before the comet uleasher.  I am known as a guardian."  The crowd was in an uroar but Taeron spoke over.

"I have never heard of a Guardian."

"You would not have.  When the comet unleasher released the Magic of the Heavens into the worlds, we were called back bu a power greater than any being, the Lord himself.  WhiteFang became the new guardian of the Magic Realm, and her power exceeds every other power except for the Lord.  She is only equal in power to the Lord.

The Magic of the Heavens landed on people with potential, that you already know.  But the Alpha's, leaders, and people like you, Taeron, already had Magic in you.  That is where I and my people come in.  When there was no Magic Realm, we, the Guardians protected the secrets of the Heavens.

When WhiteFang released the magic, we were no longer needed until now." Everyone was silent, watching Hazel with intent eyes.

"You told me you did not know who or what you were!"  An outraged cry came from Zach.  Hazel nodded, accepting the accusation.

"Yes, I did.  When I was sent to Earth, I was sent as a human.  The Lord game me a choice.  I was born, raised, and grew up as a human.  The Lord is not unfair, he did not want my destiny to be written, it was always my choice.  When I chose to come through the portal and forever bind myself to these four, I picked being a guardian.  I picked my own life.

Therefore my memories are restored.  I am the "Alpha" or leader of the Guardians.  But WhiteFang is the Alpha of Alphas.  She leads everything but the Lord."  It seemed everyone had quieted down, but questions still burned in everyone's mind.

"Taeron, I can help these four find WhiteFang, but you need to trust me.  If you do let me, then us five and one more of your choice have to leave tomorrow at daybreak."

Taeron looked torn.  He could go with this girl who claimed to be a legendary Guardian, or he could ignore her and have no lead on WhiteFang.

"Very well.  You may lead them.  Larissa will go with you."  He snapped and was gone.  Hazel lowered herself to the ground and folded her wings.  A line of Magics formed infront of her, and welcomed her home.  Even Zach apologized for what a fool he was.

Finally, all four were alone with Hazel and Larissa.  They were all still stunned by what happen, and Abby showed her fury on her face.

"Get some sleep.  You four will have a long journey tomorrow."  Larissa nodded at Hazel, but other than that, there was no further communication.  All four walked to their bunk house Larissa showed them.  Kara looked back searching for Hazel, but she was nowhere to be seen.

The only place she forgot to look was up.  Hazel flew above the Magic Realm.  Searching.  Searching for what?  That was the question.
