Whispers of the Wolves

Two sets of four life long friends grow up in a seemingly normal life, until one day, things catch fire without a match, things move without being picked up, they can hear things miles away, and they see things that are never meant to be seen. Then one day a mysterious stranger comes telling them that they are destine to save the world that they grew up in, and the world that they belong to; one where the animals talk, mountians get up and move, and magic is everywhere. Given a quest to find the hidden Shifters, they go on a quest of a lifetime, learning more about themselves and the meaning of family as they battle dark demons, old wizards and witches gone bad, and their own mental challenges and friend ship challenges too.

19. Chapter 14 - Another Choice

"Destiny is no matter of chance.  It is a matter of choice.  It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a

thing to be achieved."  - William Jennings Bryan

It took three hours to explain everything that had occurred to Kara and Blythe, and another hour to have them calm down.  The flood of questions came in and did not stop until Zach held up a hand to stop them.

"We will be able to answer all your questions back in the Magic Realm, but you have to come with us willingly.  It is one of the many Magic boundaries put in place by The Comet Unleasher.  Please, you are the only hope of helping us stop the growing Darkness that is prevailing among many of the other weaker nations of the Magic Realm."  Both Kara and Blythe looked afraid of what it might do to them, and reluctant to answer.

"You said that everyone we know will forget who we are?  Is there no way to reverse that?"  Before Zach could answer, Hazel interjected.

"Yes.  There is one possible way to reverse that Magic placed upon the Human World.  You must gain WhiteFang's trust and her loyalty enough to where she will willingly raise the Magic boundary of forgetfulness between the Human and the Magic world."  Zach looked at Hazel in shock.

"Taeron told us there was no way.  Why should we believe you?"

"Because I face the truth, he runs from it.  There is always a way to reverse any Magic placed upon anyone.  You just have to have the right things set in the right place to work.  WhiteFang's trigger is love, hope, loyalty, and wisdom.  It will never change between anything that will happen.  She is so powerful, that she can reverse and curse done to the world, but she cannot reverse any curse set upon herself.  It is one of the many things she sacrificed when she left."  Through the time that Hazel talked, Blythe and Kara both looked crestfallen.

"But WhiteFang is gone, and we cannot find where she is.  It's hopeless."  Kara said miserably.

"No, not hopeless, not impossible.  It is very much possible.  You four are linked to WhiteFang.  You just need to activate the link and follow the draw.  And have a little help from this."  Hazel produced a thin, leather bound book from her backpack.

"This is the last journal of WhiteFang before she disappeared.  The problem is, WhiteFang intertwined magic so that only the prophesied could unlock what it said.  It was entrusted to me, and I am to tell you, that once you begin, each page and chapter leads to the other.  When you solve the first entry, it will reveal the next and so on until you find her.  She will then unlock the last page of the journal."  Zach still looked mystified about what was going on.

"Where did you learn all this?  Where did you learn about Magic and how the heck could you see both Miranda and I when we were cloaked in the Veil?  Your Aura is completely human.  Even trained Magics have a hard time seeing what you saw in less than two seconds."  Zach asked now with a perplexed emotion set on his face.

"Zach, I can't tell you.  I don't remember.  All I know is that I have to come with these two, and what my directions were.  I don't know who told me, who asked me, or who gave me what I have.  I've always been able to see people who aren't really there very clearly.  If this is what you call 'the Veil' then I've always been able to see though it.  Look, I'm a mystery in itself.  What I do know, is that these four need to learn what they can do before it's too late.  Now are you going to keep asking questions or are you going to ask them to jump to the Magic Realm?"  Hazel was not backing down from this, and Zach knew the battle was lost.

"We will both go to the Magic Realm, only if you can guarantee that we will find WhiteFang."  The room was silent for a long time.

"Kara, we cannot promise anything, or guarantee that we can even find WhiteFang.  She's been in hiding for hundreds of years!"  Miranda exclaimed louder than any of them expected making everyone but Hazel to flinch.

     Hazel then said,

"It all depends on you four.  If you don't take it upon yourselves that you can and will find WhiteFang, then you won't.  It all depends on you."
