Whispers of the Wolves

Two sets of four life long friends grow up in a seemingly normal life, until one day, things catch fire without a match, things move without being picked up, they can hear things miles away, and they see things that are never meant to be seen. Then one day a mysterious stranger comes telling them that they are destine to save the world that they grew up in, and the world that they belong to; one where the animals talk, mountians get up and move, and magic is everywhere. Given a quest to find the hidden Shifters, they go on a quest of a lifetime, learning more about themselves and the meaning of family as they battle dark demons, old wizards and witches gone bad, and their own mental challenges and friend ship challenges too.

14. Chapter 10 - Silent Cries

"You don't lose friends, because real friends can never be lost.

You lose people masquerading as friends, and you're better for it."  - Mandy Hale

I had felt the shift in the time barrier and knew that time had shifted throughout the Magic Realm and the Mortal Realm.  I also knew that the whole Supernatural world would be consumed by Dark Fire if I didn't help them.  I had also made the assumption that just as Taeron had visited Blythe at the hospital, that he had visited the other Two because they had discovered their powers.  Also, judging by the time shift, he had jumped at least one, if not both of them into the Magic Ream.  So I didn't have to worry about them for right now.  Taeron had been close to guessing who I was when he saw me step into the room, but because my aura read "human" he couldn't have deciphered that it was me just by looking at me and my arua.  All the shifters had learned how to hide our Supernatural aura, and make ourselves look completely human.  At this point, I was stuck.  I was the only one who could put out the Dark Fire that raged at the Supernatural's boarders, but if I did, then I would risk getting seen.  If I didn't all the Supernaturals would die.

I finally made up my mind.  I was going to go save Taeron and the others.  By this time, it was the dead of night, and the Magic Realm would be at 2 in the morning.  Remembering the memories that I had seen from passing Supernaturals, I went over their boarders, defenses, and everything else I need to know.  It was almost the same as when I had left, but instead of all of them being spread out in their own groups, they worked together in one central area.  Looking to the East where the Dark Fire raged, I saw the practice arena's and some of the homes of the vampires.  To the left of that, the Centaurs home was their too.

A new set of patrol would switch at 2:30, so I had 30 minutes to warp there, and go undetected to the fire.  I left my den, and padded out to the camp.  All my wolves were on guard, but some were resting for the next day's dawn patrol.  As I passed, they bowed on their forelegs and submitted their heads.  Acknowledging each and everyone of them, I kept padding across the camp.  When I got to the outskirts, Bloodheart padded up next to me, rubbing his side on mine.  I playfully nipped his ear and let him pin me to the ground.  We were still in wolf form so we shared thoughts for a second before I had to go.

Be careful, love.  Please.  Bloodheart thought as I lept away into the Magic Realm.  I ended up on the far East side, but I was a little farther then I anticipated, so I had to pull a sonicflash, and bolt my way to the boarder.  When I became aware of the presence of others, I slowed to a trot.  Padding through the underbrush, I silently slipped through the guards and became aware of the smell of fire.  I saw the Dark Fire within a second after I smelled it.  Unlike regular red fire, dark fire was purple, black, and blue.  The hottest part of the flame was the outside, and it was purple, following the cooler part was blue then black.  In the middle, was the symbol of the Dark Lord herself.  Summoning up my power, I blew on the fire, and it began to flicker out.  Pushing a huge amount of magic on it would surely alert Taeron and the others, but that was the only way the fire would be out. So, taking my chance, I surged mu magic forward and the fire went out completely.  I heard shouts immediately, and the whoosh of teleporting.  I stood in the middle of the destruction, white coat gleaming like new fallen snow, untouched by the Dark Fire.  My eyes flew across the group, until I locked eyes with Taeron.

Why did you go?  They seemed to say.  Because I had to.  I answered silently.  He seemed to be trying not to cry out.  I gazed over the crowd yet again, and sent Taeron one last message:  I will come when you accept my help without needing me.  I then turned and warped out of the Magic Realm, though I confused my trial and made it seem like I went 20 different places within the Magic Realm and about 40 in the Human Realm.

I finally returned to my den, exhausted and weary.  Bloodheart came and curled up next to me, and comforting me while I grieved over the loss of part of the Magic realm, and Taeron.
