Chapter Twenty-Seven: You're so cute when you moan

The date was lovely. Ashton led me to a beautifully clichéd picnic set up overlooking the river. The bright stars shone out above us with a magical glow, setting the romantic mood. It was perfect - and the food wasn't bad either.

It was pizza.

In the end we talked about everything. He asked about my photography and films; I asked about why he started drumming. It was like no time had past since we met. I had always thought he was a great guy, no matter how annoying he got.

After eating, I packed up the drinks while Ashton folded the clichéd checker picnic blanket.

"This was fun," I admitted as he stuffed the blanket into the half empty basket. He smiled up at me from his crouched position in the grass.

"I'm glad you think so, sweetheart," he responded cheekily, standing to his full height and towering above me. I rolled my eyes and blushed as he wrapped his arms around my waist. My hands rested on his upper arms, keeping us apart as we stared intently at each other. I couldn't tear my eyes away from his face. He was so freaking attractive it's insane. His chiseled jaw with a 5 o'clock shadow, those piercing green eyes that seemed to see right through me, and pouty lips that hid a panty-dropping smile. I couldn't keep my eyes off of those lips. His tongue slipped out between soft lips, giving them a glossy shine as it swiped across them.

"You're beautiful, Ashy," he murmured, leaning closer to me. My hands slid up his arms, wrapping around and clasping at the back of his neck. Our lips were a breath apart, my eyes fluttering closed when I felt a splash of water hit my cheek. I flinched at the sudden coldness, my eyes flashing open. Ashton stared at me, a slight smirk on his lips as his thumb brushed away the water. We both tilted our heads back, staring up at the now black sky. Another droplet of water splashed on my face, followed by another and another.

"It's raining," I giggled, my fingers tangling in Ashton's curls. Those curls are so tempting you can't keep your fingers out of them if you tried. I didn't. He looked down at me, my now soaking hair plastered to my face as the rain picked up. He grinned, pulling me closer and slamming his lips against mine.

His lips were warm, soft and demanding. He kissed me slowly, his lips moving against mine. My breath hitched in my throat, my fingers tightening their grip on his hair and eliciting a moan from him. I kissed him back, our lips moving together in a slow dance. His hands on my hips kept me in place, his fingers tracing circles into the clingy fabric of my dress. It felt so right - so perfect. He ran his tongue along my lips, asking for entrance. I smiled into the kiss, refusing his request. His left hand trailed up my back and into my hair while his right arm snaked around my waist, pulling my drenched body flush against his.

I couldn't help the moan that escaped me when I felt his firm chest pressed against mine. I felt the chuckle coming before he pulled away to let the sound out.

"Why the hell are you laughing?" I whined, already missing the feel of his lips on mine. He stared down at me, those green eyes staring right through me.

"You're so cute when you moan," he chuckled, his fingers brushing across my cheek. I glared playfully at him, tugging lightly at his curls. He winced at the sharp sting, but shook it off and kissed my nose. "I'm sorry, babe."

"Sure you are," I replied pulling away and picking up the picnic basket. I began to walk back the way we came, but a hand on my arm stopped me.

"Aw c'mon, Ashley," Ashton's hand slid down my arm and met my hand. Lacing our fingers together he pulled me back to his side and placed a soft kiss on my cheek. "I'm sorry for laughing, sweetheart."

"It's fine, Ash," I smiled up at him, kissing his jaw. He smiled happily down at me before leading me to a limo across the street.

"Can I take you out again?" Ashton asked, tracing circles on the back of my hand. We were seated in the back of the limo again, Sam driving us back to the hotel. He and Bobby were chatting up front, ignoring us completely. My head was resting on Ashton's shoulder while our hands were clasped together and resting on his thigh.

"Of course," I yawned, my eyes drifting closed. I felt his chuckle, but ignored it as I drifted asleep.
