Chapter Fifteen: Michael is in denial

Ever since she joined us, it's been nothing but drama. Don't get me wrong, I love Ashley. We're closer than me and the boys. It's just hard when my best mates are fighting over the same girl. I get that she's a beautiful girl, but she's Ashley!

"Hey mate, is Ashley in here?" Ashton called from the front of the bus. I bet he was still avoiding her. I rolled my eyes, but set my book down anyway.

"Nah, she's out with Louis," I called back, pulling out my phone. I haven't been on twitter in a while. I clicked on the little blue app just as Ashton's sulking figure entered the room. "What's got your boxers in a bunch?"

He scowled, dropped onto the couch and ran a hand through his curls.

"She just...I don't get her!" He sighed exasperated. "She's so confusing and I don't know what to do."

"What do you mean?" I asked glancing up from my phone. Stupid thing was still loading.

"One minute I think we might be able to be friends and the next we're getting in a fight." He put his face in his hands, rubbing his face. He groaned and his next words were muffled. "I think I like her."

"Well duh," I rolled my eyes, turning my gaze back to my screen. Twitter had loaded. Mental high five! I scrolled through the notifications, followed a few fans and replied to others.

"What do you mean, 'well duh'?" Ashton asked, an when I glanced up at him he had pulled his lip into his mouth and was chewing nervously on it. I couldn't help but laugh at him.

"Mate, you've liked her since you two met." I answered him, turning my attention back to my phone. "It's completely obvious to everyone. Ashley is just blind. I mean, with all the glares at the lads this week I'm surprised she hasn't noticed how jealous you actually are."

"Shut up," he mumbled, running a hand through his hair.

"Seriously though." I grinned in his direction. "She's so dense sometimes. Don't he me wrong I love the girl, but she has her moments. And her brother..."

"Mike doesn't get it." Ashton shook his head and leaned back on the couch.

"Michael is in denial." I responded, tucking my phone back into my pocket. "He doesn't want to accept the fact that his sister is desirable. She's his sister for Christ sake. What do you expect from the protective older brother?"

"It's not like I'm gonna hurt her," he mumbled, pulling out his phone.

"No need to tell me. Michael will warm up to the idea as soon as you tell him you're for real. Let him know you're serious about her." Who knew I was good at giving advice?

"Cal, you should be a therapist." He laughed at his joke. I hated that idea. All day listening to other people's problems? Hell no. I'll leave that to the professionals and stick to music.

"Ha ha very funny," I did a slow clap before smacking the back of his head.

"Ow, mate what the hell!"

"I'm serious, Ash." I stood up and walked towards the bunks. "If you like her you've got to make it clear. Talk to Michael and then go get your girl."

And with that I went to take my nap, leaving Ashton to think on the couch.
