Chapter Eleven: All I saw was red

I listened to Ashley's soft, angelic voice coming from the opposite room. We were all piled into the bus early this morning and I knew I should probably try to sleep, but I couldn't. She was out there with Luke. He was making her laugh.

I still couldn't believe he was her first kiss. How the hell had that happened? It was before I had become a part of the group, before I had even moved into their neighborhood. I had always known Luke had a thing for the blue eyed beauty, but I never knew they had a...past. I never thought she would go for one of her friends.

But here I was, lying on my back in my bunk, listening to her flirting shamelessly with Luke Hemmings. And my temper was rising by the second.

I needed a release. I needed my drums. But alas, they weren't here. I would have to wait until we got to our venue.

"No! Stop, Luke!" Ashley's laughter filled the bus, bringing a smile to my face. Why couldn't I make her laugh like that? "Luke, I'm gonna kick your ass! Please just STOP!"

I clenched my jaw, slipping out of my bed and down the hallway. I wasn't going to spy. Not exactly.

Leaning against the kitchen counter, I watched as Luke hovered over the small figure of Ashley Clifford. Her dark hair was spread out around her face, the gorgeous curls flying everywhere. Her eyes were closed, her cheeks pink and the smile that lit her face was something to die for. She looked so adorable, her dimples appearing as she giggled while Luke's fingers continued the assault on her sides.

I glared at the back of Luke's head. All I wanted to do at that moment in time was punch his face.

"A-ashton! Help me!" Ashley's giggles were becoming full on laughter, her breathing short and far between. "He. Won't. Stop!"

"What do you want me to do, love?" I asked, covering my frustration with a smirk. I loved the way my name rolled off her tongue. I turned away, ransacking the cupboard behind me for something to snack on. I pulled back when I found a tube of Pringles, taking them with me to the miniature fridge. I pulled out a beer before heading to the couch with my snack. I wasn't about to leave Ashley alone with Luke again. I didn't want anything to happen between them.

"Help me, dummy!" Ashley screamed through her laughter. Her eyes were open, the oceanic blue color piercing through my walls. All of her own walls were down at that moment and as I watched tears form in her eyes I couldn't help but wish things were different between us. If this girl didn't stop looking at me with those soulful eyes, I would be in big trouble with her brother. I don't know what I would do if I ever got her alone, but I knew it wouldn't be good.

I opened the Pringles, popping one into my mouth as I watched her struggling to breath through her laughter. Taking a calming breath I tried to steer my mind away from the dirty thoughts of her struggling to breath because of me.

"Sorry, sweetheart," I said, opening my beer and taking a swallow. I would not touch her. I would not touch her. "No can do."

"Ashton!" She screamed and I instantly thought about making her scream my name while I--no! Don't think about it, Ashton. She's your best mate's sister. It's not allowed. "Just get him off me!"

I let out a loud sigh, standing up and walking to the two on the floor. I didn't want Luke touching her, but I knew I couldn't.

"Come on mate, let her go. She doesn't wan to play anymore." I held my hand out for Luke, ready to pull him up, but he ignored me.

"You know how to get me off, Ashley." He smirked down at her, leaning down to whisper in her ear. I watched as her eyes grew wide and her cheeks turned an even darker shade of red.

"Too much time with Harry." She mumbled, pushing against his chest. "I'm not saying that, Luke. Please stop and get off of me."

Luke had stopped tickling her the second I stood up, but he was still hovering over her, waiting for her to say whatever he wanted her to say.

"Just say it, Ashley," he bit his lip, his forehead pressed against hers. I was getting angry. I didn't like the way he was acting with her.

Ashley let out a huff of air and mumbled a few words under her breath.

"What was that? I didn't hear you."

"I said, Luke is a sexy beast, kiss me." Ashley's soft voice muttered with a grimace. Luke chuckled but leaned in and pressed his lips against hers.

All I saw was red.
