Sherlock and the Time Lords (BBC Sherlock/Doctor Who Crossover)

Before John came, Sherlock had met two people. Two aliens, to be exact. One male, one female. What happens when their worlds meet? Only time will tell.

4. Chapter 3

Sherlock stayed longer at the door, staring at Earth in wonder while the two aliens conversed quietly while they kept an eye on the detective. “So you like this one?” the Doctor asked his sister quietly.

“He's smart.” she said. “Unlike your other companions.” she smirked. Her brother glared at her, before turning serious again.

“Do you think he'll stay?”

Layla pursed her lips, glancing in Sherlock's direction. She watched as he poked his head out the door, marvelling at how he could still breathe while floating. Wonder and awe was on the detective's face, a small smile on his face. “I think so.” she finally answered, glancing back at her brother. “He's a curious person. Curious people stay longer.” Layla walked back to Sherlock, standing beside him.

“This is impossible.” he murmured. “But how is this possible?”

“When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.” Layla said simply, staring out at the universe with him. “Welcome to the improbable.”

“Improbable.” Sherlock mumbled absently. The two were snapped out of their thoughts when the Doctor clapped his hands quite loudly, pulling them away from the door.

“So where do you want to go?” Doctor asked him. “Nineteenth century, the future, a planet. . .”

“Anywhere you want.” Layla added. “And it shall be granted.”

“Can we go to a place where everything is made out of candy?” Sherlock said sarcastically with a smirk, only to drop when he heard their reply.

“Yes!” the two had exclaimed in excitement.

“I haven't been to that place in ages!” Layla exclaimed happily.

“I know!” Doctor replied. “Remember the hot chocolate spa treatment -”

“And the ice cream land where we kept having snowball fights!”

“Yeah! And the gingerbread houses -”

“Are you two serious?” Sherlock asked incredulously. “There's actually a place made out of food?”

“And people!” Doctor added absently, flicking switches.

“Thank you for the suggestion, Sher!” Layla beamed, pulling a lever. Instead of the place having an earthquake, it was still just the way it was. “I took the brakes off for you.”

“Sher?” Sherlock repeated, ignoring what she had said. “And I was being sarcastic!”

“Yeah! Sher!” Layla nodded. “I'm calling you Sher from now on.”

“And that thing being sarcastic. We knew.” Doctor added. “We just wanted to see your reaction.”

“So there actually isn't a place made out of candy.”

“No, there actually is.” Doctor stated casually, before prancing to the door. “We're here!” he said in a sing-song voice.

Five hours later. . .

“So much candy we ate!” Layla yelled, jumping on a marshmallow bed. “So much energy!”

“I can't believe I am on a different planet!” Sherlock said with just as much enthusiasm. “I think I ate a sour worm that was on a leaf!”

The two laughed crazily, jumping on the marshmallow bed. Doctor barged into the room, looking just as crazy as them. “Guys!” he exclaimed. “The candy people are after us!”

“Run!” Layla exclaimed, jumping off the bed. The dashed to a window, hopping out only to land in some ice cream. The three ran towards the TARDIS while running, the sound of angry people close behind.

“What did you do?” Sherlock asked the Doctor through their laughter.

“I licked the king's face!” Doctor wheezed out through their laughter. “His peppermint face!”

They finally reached the TARDIS, slamming the door on the food people's faces.

One hour later. . .

Sherlock walked out of the TARDIS tiredly, feeling very tired from the previous sugar rush. Layla followed after him, just as tired. Sherlock looked around with a frown. “We're at Baker Street.” he mumbled. “Why are we back at Baker Street?”

“To drop you off.” she replied, leaning against the door.

“I thought you wanted me to travel with you?” he said confused.

“We do.” she nodded. “But you also have a life here in this world. We'll pick you up daily.”

“Ah, okay.” he nodded.

“Besides,” she said, nodding towards his flat, “it looks like a certain Detective Inspector wants to see you.”

“Ah, no.” Sherlock groaned, seeing Greg Lestrade at the door knocking madly. “How long has it been?”

“You've only been gone for an hour.” she answered, pushing him gently towards his flat. “Tell him you've got a hangover or something.”

Sherlock nodded and went to walk away, when he was stopped by a hand on his arm. “Here,” she said, handing him his Iphone, “I added mine and the Doctor's number. When you want to travel again and all.”

“Thanks.” Sherlock said genuinely. He placed a polite kiss on her cheek, before walking away, slightly stumbling in his step. Layla smiled at the Consulting Detective, before walking back into the TARDIS, the sound of the ship disappearing the last thing Sherlock heard behind his back.
