Daisy Creek

When a woman returns to her childhood home for a family reunion, she uncovers secrets and repressed memories of her childhood.

2. The Visit

As I pulled up to my old home, everything looked the same as the day I left for college; rocking chairs on the porch, our hand prints on the stepping stones, and wind chimes hanging near the rocking chairs. It felt as if I was a little kid again, making mud pies with Sarah every time it rained. I looked around the house to see if my sister had shown up yet. She has a reputation of parking anywhere BUT the driveway. After checking all around the house, there was no sign of her. I took out my phone and called her.

"Sarah, where are you?" I asked.

"Am I supposed to be anywhere?" She asked confusingly.

"Didn't you get a note in the mail from mom? The note said that she invited the whole family to her house for a family reunion." I replied.

"No, and this is the first time I'm hearing of a family reunion. Is anyone else there?" Sarah asked.

"No." I sighed.

"Must be a prank. I have to go. Greg wants to finger paint." Sarah said and hung up.

I stared up at the house, and I figured that if I already came all this way, I might as well pay a visit to mom.
