“You controlled them with violence; you are a disgrace to humanity. Read this; this piece of scum her rights officer; wait a moment turn around her called out to the officer as he clamped a pair of handcuffs on her. Charlie fairly was snapping away with his camera.

He took shots of the kitchen where the watered down porridge was to be served and maggot infested bread.

The menu was taken down from the kitchen wall and kept as evidence which proved the children were being starved. All the nuns on duty were arrested who all protested their innocence saying it was Gods will that the children should be punished. “Suffer the children to come unto me” Shouted Sister Agnes as she was led away.

Mike ran to the hospital wing where Jackie was being held.

He was barely alive when Mike got there. They had beaten him so severely. His ribs were broken where he had been kicked by Mr Buckley for bringing the authorities to the home. Mike lifted him gently in his arms and told him that he would never go to another children’s home. “You are coming home with me and as so as you are well enough Maureen and I are going to adopt you. “ Would you like that?

“Yes sir said Jackie barely able to talk.”

Mike carried Jackie to a waiting ambulance along with several other boys who had been beaten so badly by the staff of Oakridge Children’s home.

Mike asked Ralph if he would help him to get the papers passed so that Jackie could be adopted by him and his wife.

“Leave that with me Mike I will have it done by the end of the week.”

“Thanks’ Ralph; I would like every children’s home in the area checked over without having to get search warrants. I want gates taken down and doctors to visit these establishments every month.

“This kind of thing must never be allowed to happen again.”

“I think we will be opening a can of worms here Mike.”

“I don’t care because tomorrow I will be speaking with Simon Hudspith MP; something has to be done to protect the interests of children in care.

“Good luck with that.”

Later that day the body of Johnny Gallagher was discovered. He had written on the wall in his own blood the words Ron Skinner.

The net was closing and several arrests were made. Many were singing like canaries to save their own skins.

One in particular told them how Skinner had ordered the murders of both Robin McNally and Johnny Gallagher.

Ronnie Skinner stood trial a month later for murder, racketeering, and drug dealing.

The trial lasted two weeks.

He stood in the dock with a smirk on his face thinking that he would get off as he hired one of the top barristers in the country to fight his case. He was found guilt on all charges.

Judge William Hunter; read out a statement before passing sentence.
