70. 70

It was at ten o’clock that evening when Ralph Mason, Mike Langley, and Charlie Fairley his photographer showed up where they had seen the punishments taking place. They all scaled the tree and sat on the wall scanning the rooms with their binoculars. There said Mike, to the right and third window along. A boy was being held in a headlock whilst being beaten by both Mr Buckley and Mrs Jenkins.

“Are you getting all this?

Charlie nodded as he clicked away with his camera.

Then Ralph spotted Sister Agnes beating a boy with her leather strap as she dragged him by his hair. “Got them said Charlie as the camera clicked away.”

By ten thirty they had more than enough evidence to force a prosecution for abuse against children.

Ralph Mason said he would be back in the morning with another court order; this time to close this home with immediate effect.

“I will get nursing staff and doctors here tomorrow morning at seven o’clock.”

“Thanks for coming Ralph.”

“I’m glad we got here when we did Mike; someone may have been killed if we hadn’t intervened.

Charlie; let’s get back and get some close ups of those photo’s.

“See you in a few hours.”

The three men shook hands and then drove off.

Back at the station Charlie Fairley set about producing some photo’s in the dark room of the station.

He placed the photo papers in the chemical solution until the images began to appear.

“They were good; in fact they were excellent. There was no mistaking who was who in them; as they carried out the brutal attacks on the children in their care.

At six o’clock that morning Mike had organised his team and rung the local hospital at Preston Hospital where two doctors, five nurses, and a team of ambulances would be ready to take the children to hospital to be checked over.

At precisely 7am the buzzer on the gates was pressed.

“Hello who is it?

“It is Detective Mike Langley; please open the gates.”

“You cannot come in we are not taking visitors until later said the panic stricken Matron.”

“Either open up Mrs Jenkins or we will be forced to break the gates down.”

“The gates were slowly opened and the police swarmed the building.

Mr Buckley was caught hiding in a closet.

The matron Mrs Jenkins asked why the police were intruding at such a Godly hour when the children were at church mass.

Yesterday you asked for proof well now we have it.

He passed the photos of her using a bamboo cane on one boy and then slapping the face of another.

These children had to be disciplined she stuttered they were uncontrollable.”
