Robin had agreed to meet Ronnie Sinner again where he would hand over the stones and jewellery so that they could be fenced.

“When will I see my money said Robin?

“You will get yours as soon as I get mine.”

“Double cross me at your own peril Ronnie Skinner; because I will hunt you down believe me.”

“We have a deal and I do not go back on my word.”

“Good; I will be in touch in a week.”

“When Robin left Ronnie Skinner laughed; what a bloody amateur. “ Who does he think he is threatening me?”

“He’s a small fish in a big pond.”

Robin asked Johnny to get one of his trusted friends to keep an eye on Ronnie and the Jewells. Later that week Ronnie met with the captain of the” Pride of Walker” a merchant ship taking cargo to America. He agreed to take the stones and a passenger to ensure safe keeping until they reached their destination. The customs officer whom the captain knew would be paid to turn a blind eye.

“When do you sail?

“High tide is tomorrow morning at seven o’clock so we will be towed out around six thirty.”

“We will be here for six sharp.”

Bob Cole and Charlie Fairley were dressed to go fishing they carried their solid fibre glass rods and fixed spool reels. They fitted in with any other angler as they boarded the ha’penny dodger and got off at walker gate. They had already checked with the port of Tyne authority and found out which ships would be leaving the Tyne and their destinations. They baited their rods then cast out then Bob took out a pair of miniature binoculars where he kept an eye on the other side of the river.

“It wasn’t long before Bob said that he’d caught a fish.”

“You’ve not long cast out said Charlie.”

“Not that type of fish; look over there far right of the “Pride of Walker” in Smiths Dock. There’s our friend Ronnie Skinner and his pals.”

Charlie Fairley Zoomed in with his Pentax camera and began taking pictures as evidence.

“I have some real good one’s here Sergeant.”

“Good lets go; we have what we came for now all we have to do is wait.”

They took the ferry back across the river then got into the squad car after putting the two piece rods in the boot.

Once back at the station the camera crew set about developing the film Charlie had taken.
