I have some merchandise that I want shifting but I want the going rate for it.

“I am willing to pay two grand.”

“What are we talking about here drugs?

“No Stones and gold.”

“The gold I can shift, the stones are a lot more difficult; we have to get them through customs then bring the money back.

“If I’m to do this then I would need at least four grand.

“It is my men who will be taking the risks here; they have to be paid then the guy at the other end that has to sell them on.

“I know that these are good quality stones Ronnie and any Jew in New York will jump at the chance to buy them. The watches and rings are all hand crafted; they have been etched. I brought one along to show you.”

“Robin took off the gold ring and showed it to Ronnie.

“Excellent workmanship he took out an eye glass and studied it in closer detail.

“Twenty four carat and a good weight too.”

“Try it on for size.”

“Ronnie tried on the ring; it’s very nice. That is yours; if we can agree on a deal here.”

Skinner sat back in the chair admiring the ring before agreeing.

“I knew that you would see sense. “ Now maybe we can do more business in the future.”

The two men shook hands and then Robin got up and signalled to his men to follow him out.

Robin picked up a copy of the News of the World. Where the front page headline read Jeweller robbed of fifty four thousand pounds.

The stones are worth more than I thought he said to himself; but a deal had been struck and Robin smiled to himself.

Down at North Shields station they were drawing a blank on all the local thieves the narks were coming back with nothing.

Detective Sergeant Mike Langley came from his office. “Listen Bob, a job this big has got to be a team and my guess would be it’s got to involve Ronnie Skinner.

“I will put a tail on him and his house to see if anything comes up.”

Meanwhile get your narks up to the town and see if they can get us some information.

“We need a lead; a name.”

“I’m onto it Mike.”

“Bob got into his car and drove into town where he met his contact Freddie Crass “The Grass” as he was better known as by the force. He was the best around and very inconspicuous.

“Listen Freddie there is something big going down and I want names; see what you can find out. Bob handed over twenty pounds; more than enough to cove every den of iniquity in Newcastle.
