Aya and Abel returned from the synagogue they took off their hats then Abel made them a drink before they went to bed.

The next morning Abel went where he knew his keys were hidden and took them out of the book and opened up the shop a few minutes later Abel shouted for his father.

“What is it my son?

“We have been robbed; all the stones are gone; the watches everything apart from what is in the shop window.”

Aya began to panic as he ran to his bedroom and opened the safe under his floor boards; his life savings were gone. He began to cry; then he got angry, how could they have got into the shop. “Did you leave the keys to the shop behind when we went to the synagogue last night. “ Yes father, but I always’ do.”

“Phone the police right away.”

Within two minutes two police cars pulled up outside then went in Sergeant Bob Cole spoke with the owner of the shop where he told him that more than forty thousand pounds in valuable stones was missing and watches and other jewellery to the value of ten thousand. They also stole my life savings of four thousand pounds from a safe that I have upstairs.

“Right, when did you notice you had been robbed?

“This morning when my son opened the shop up about fifteen minutes ago.”

“Were you out last night?

“Yes, to the synagogue but we got back at nine o’clock.”

“We never noticed anything unusual; my son even made us a hot drink before bed.”

“Looks like a professional job sir, said one of his officers.

“Get forensics here and see if we can get prints.”

“Okay you stay with these two gentlemen I want statements of all their movements right up to the discovery of the robbery. “

“Mr Bronner; are you insured?”

“Yes, but my life saving what about my money?

“I suggest you open a bank account in future; we will be in touch; mean while you lot I want you to check every pawn shop in the town and let’s have brought to the station all the local known thieves. “ I want to squeeze the little bastards until someone squeals.

“Someone knows who did this job and I want answers understood?

“Yes sergeant.”

“Get your narks working and see if they can pick up anything from the local boozers.”

“Yes sir.”

“Well then get on with it.”

“Gary; see if you can suss out the local fences around here; those stones are red hot and no one will touch them with a barge poll so we might have a chance to nab the bastards who did this before the get them out of the country.

“Tom, alert all airports and ferry terminals.

“I’m on it sir.”
