“I very pleased to meet you said Joyce and I’m sorry for your loss.”

The girl smiled then went into the room and closed the door.

Robin waited until he heard the old lady go back down stairs then said: Hi Maggie how have you been?

“I’m fine, how are you? Maggie opened her coat to reveal a pair of stockings and suspenders; dropped the coat to the floor then walked towards Robin and pushed him back onto the bed and got astride him and began to unbuckle his belt.

“Ten pounds for the whole evening Robin; what do you say?

Robin never answered, he just rolled her over.

The next morning Robin dressed he had let Maggie out and gave her the money that she had asked for. Robin ordered a taxi from the taxi rank which took him to the arcades. He sat in the Silver City Café; Robin watched to see if Johnny had brought anyone with him as he didn’t want to be set up.

“Johnny turned up outside in a taxi then went inside; he ordered a drink and sat in the corner. Robin came down stairs about ten minutes later and walked over to the Berkley Tavern and sat down.

“Robin shook hands with his friend then handed him a newspaper. Inside was the money in a brown envelope. Johnny opened the news paper then quickly counted the cash.

“Okay we are on I’ve spoken with a guy who will remain anonymous for obvious reasons and he will shift the gear you have for two grand.

“Sounds about right.”

“Mind if this err guy you know cocks up; then it will be you and him I will come looking for.”

“I want to meet him before I hand over any merchandise.”

“He will not agree to that.”

“Then the deal is off my friend; you can go and ring him but please leave the newspaper here.”

There was a phone in the bar and Johnny made the call; he seemed to be remonstrating with who ever he was talking to then put down the phone.

“Alright he will meet us tonight at seven o’clock in the “Blackie Boy”

“So we are dealing with the Newcastle firm are we?

“It’s Ronnie Skinner that we are doing business with is it not?

“Yes, don’t mess with him Robin he has a lot of back up.”

“What makes you think that I haven’t?

Pick me up from the guest house at six then we can go meet Mr Skinner, I will be bringing a couple of my friends with me just in case there is any funny business.

“I hope there isn’t going to be any trouble Robin; I want no part of that.

“Look here Johnny you will be part of whatever I ask you; understood.

“Bugger me Robin you have changed a bit haven’t you.”

“Yes I’m a bigger dog in the fight these days; I’ve learned a few things in Australia.

“We will see who is boss around here.”
