56. Scene 3

The band are sat around in Kenny’s parent’s house. Azuza is sat with them, the laptop between them.

Nikki: OK, so I wrote this one after our meeting and we recorded it and mixed it within about three hours this afternoon.

Azuza: Impressive!

Nikki: It’s called Hero (presses play)

We hear the song again and notice how happy Azuza looks.

Azuza: This has potential! A real studio and professional mixers could make a hit out of this!

Kenny: So what about the deal?

Azuza: There’s no rush, it won’t go anywhere. Keep doing what you’re doing, getting noticed. I’ll inform the label about what I’ve heard and they might call you all in for a session.

Dan: But you like it, right?

Azuza: I like it very much, but it isn’t about what I like, it’s about what will sell. And this, this my friends, could sell.

Dan: Awesome.

Azuza: (standing) you guys celebrate and I’ll see what can be done to progress you from here. (to Kenny) tell your mother ‘thank you for the coffee’.

Kenny: I will.

Azuza: Goodbye friends. I’ll see you soon, eh?

Nikki: Hopefully.

Azuza: Indeed (he leaves)

Kenny: Got any more like that one, Nikki?

Nikki: I don’t think audiences like it when bands plagiarise themselves, but I’ll see what can be written. For now, let’s just celebrate.

Dan: With alcohol?

Reece: (standing) of course, Nikki will be needing it.

Nikki: You ain’t funny, dude.

The band head to the pub and a celebration ensues.
