New Girl

"Luke," I gasp for air. "We can't keep doing this. We have to tell him."
"Fine," he groans seductively. "But it's your funeral."

14. Fourteen

It takes everything I have not to pull away and deny that it ever happened. But it did. I let someone see my scars. He traces his fingers over them. He turns my wrist over and sees more, but they are a lot more faded. I tear streaks down my face. I keep looking at his face. Waiting for him to call me stupid and gross and pathetic. But he doesn't.

He looks back up at me and cradles my face in his hands. I look into his blue eyes and just get lost in them. He pulls his hands away and engulfs me into a huge hug. I feel myself shudder as I cry. He doesn't shake as bad. It feels like forever has passed when we pull away. He dries my face with his shirt and kisses my nose. We both make sure we have gained our composure when we walk out of his room. I'm about to walk out of his house when he grabs my wrist. He pulls me toward him and plants a light kiss on my lips. My eyes flutter closed. It was sweet and short.

As soon as he breaks the kiss he walks away and I walk about of his house. I climb over the fence and back up into my room.

I sit down by the piano and start to play All Of Me by John Legend. I start to sing it too. I finish it up and play my own song. The keys are comfortable under my fingers. I calm down enough to rethink what just happened. Did Luke and I kiss? It gives me a headache just to think about. I go into the bathroom and turn on the hot water. I hop into the shower and do my routine. I get out and get into my pj's. I go out of my room and walk into Calum's. He takes one look at me and wraps me in a big hug. I don't tell him what's wrong and he doesn't ask. I guess it's a twin thing.

"Let's go downstairs, eat pizza, and play connect four." I smile at him and as he walks down the stairs I climb on his back. He grunts from surprise but doesn't drop me. He lets me off in the kitchen and starts to heat up the pizza. I grab the game and start to set it up on the kitchen table. He comes over and sits across from me and hands me two slices of pizza. I go first and start to eat some of the pizza.

When we finish he's only won once.

"Your really bad at this." I say to him.

"I think you cheat."

"How do I cheat?"

"You always start first."

"Winner starts. That's an ancient rule." He scoffs at me. "Anyways, when you won I started. And then I still beat you again when you started."

"I still think you cheat."

"I'm just more talented."

"This is connect four."

"Connect four has been around for generations and is an ancient art. It takes amazing skill, precision, and strategy to kick someone's ass at it."

"Yeah it says here it was made in 1974."

"That's ancient."

"I think Mum is older than that."

"You just proved my point."

"Your an idiot."

"That's the one characteristic we share as twins." I remark. He rolls his eyes and smirks.

"I'm going to bed. We've got school tomorrow."

"Ugh, don't remind me." I say to him. We say our goodnights and head our separate ways.
