Le'Strange the not-so-death-eater

Emma Lestrange. What can you say? She's a girl. She's different. And she's got a hell of a lot of crap being thrown at her.

1. prologue of sorts

As I walked down the platform I received evil stares and glares but, for once in my life, I didn't care. I didn't care that my mother was Bellatrix Le'Strange, didn't care that no one liked me. Because I was going to Hogwarts! When I got on the train I didn't even bother asking anyone to sit by them knowing that they would immediately say "no" and "go away" so the first empty compartment and I found I sat in. It was so amazing to be on my way to Hogwarts. What surprised me even more than getting my letter was that somebody had knocked on my door and it wasn't the candy lady.

"Hello.Do you mind if I sit here?" Said a small calm voice.

"Not at all," I said. She sat down across from me and closed the cherry red door.

"I'm Luna by the way, Luna Lovegood," She said, holding out her hand.

"Emerald, Emerald Le'Strange." I said, saying my last name softer as I shook her hand.

"Don't be ashamed of your parents. Don't be proud either, but don't let them define who you are. I don't know about other people but I'm not going to judge you based on your last name," she said.

"Thank you. You'll be the first,"

"So what house do you think you will be sorted into?" She asked.

"I'm hoping for Ravenclaw or Gryffindor but, considering my heritage, I'll probably be in Slytherin." I said.

"The sorting doesn't take our parents into account, only us. In other words if your whole family has been in Slytherin but you are completely different from them you could be sorted into Gryffindor. But as for me, I'm hoping for Ravenclaw." Said Luna. All the sudden there was a knock on the door and I asked Luna to open it.

"Hello, mind if we sit with you?" Said a voice.

"No, not at all." Said Luna. As two people walked into the compartment I struggled to cover my bony face with my curly black hair though it was unsuccessful as the black haired boy came and sat down next to me.

"Hi, I'm Harry, Harry Potter,"said the black-haired boy holding out his hand to me. Oh great, I thought, yet another person whose life was ruined by my mother or at least the person she worked for. Though I didn't want to be impolite so I shook his hand.

"I'm Emerald." I said. He looked at me expectantly. I sighed.

"Le'Strange." I finally whispered. My last name didn't bother Harry- probably because he had just learned that he was a wizard- though the red haired boy got an angry look on his face at the sound of it.

"C'mon Harry, let's go." He said.

A sad look took on my face no matter how hard I tried to remain emotionless.

"Why?" Harry asked.

"Her mother was a death-eater." Said the red head harshly.

"A what?" Asked Harry. A look of pure hatred now replaced my sadness.

"She worked for Voldemort. And she wasn't much of mother. Or a person." I said.

"Oh." Said Harry, though, he didn't seem afraid or angry he almost looked like he felt...sorry for me.

"Um..." I said awkwardly.

"We should change into our robes, could you please leave?" Asked Luna kindly.

"Oh! Yeah uh well.... See you around." Harry said as him and his friend left. So Luna and I changed into our robes and just as we finished the candy lady came.

"Anything from the trolly dears?"

"A packet of droobels and some fizzing Whizbees." I said.

"You know that fizzing Whizbees have Billywig stingers in them?" Luna said.

"On second thought just the droobels." I said and handed her three bronze Knuts. Not fifteen minutes after the trolley came the train stopped at Hogsmeade Station and Luna I walked over to a big man shouting for the first years to come over into the boats. The only boat that Luna and I could sit in was the boat with the big man.

"'Ello, name's Hagrid." The man said holding his hand, which was about as big as my face, for us to shake.

"I'm Emerald, but you can call me Emma." I say as I shake his rough hand.

"May I ask your las' name, Emma?" He said. That was exactly what I was afraid of.

"Le'Strange." I said quietly. Though he didn't seem to care who my parents were, thank Merlin.

"An' you wou' be?" He asked Luna.

"Luna Lovegood." She responded as we hit rocky land. Hagrid then led us to a room just outside the great hall. Professor Mcgonagal was waiting. She explained things like how good things earn house points bad things get them taken away and the house with most points (either Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin) will win the house cup. Then she led us through the great hall bad up onto a platform that had a table with the professors and headmaster Dumbledore and a stool. Professor McGonagal was standing by the stool holding an old hat and a piece of paper. She then started calling our names.

"Bones,Susan,"She called out. A small girl with brown hair sat on the stool as McGonagle placed the sorting hat on top of her head and it instantly called out Hufflepuff. She then continued for about five minutes until she paused for a moment.

"Le'Strange, Emerald." She said with a shaky voice. The great hall broke out in whispers as I walked up to the stool trying to cover my face with hair. I sat down and she set the hat on my curly hair.

"Hmm..very...strange. Different than most. Quite Bright however, you would do well in... RAVENCLAW!" The Hat shouted. Only Luna, who had also been sorted into Ravenclaw, clapped for me. I sat down solemnly beside Luna, knowing that I would be known to everyone but Luna as a... How was it that they put it? Oh, yes, as a 'junior death eater'. At least that until people decided to get to know me.

Information about years 1-4:

1- in the first year Emerald found she had a natural talent for DADA. She did not assist with Harry Ron and Hermione in getting the sorcerer's stone though when she saw them in the library looking for Nicholas Flamel (the maker of the stone) she gave helpful information about him which helped the Trio discover the stone as well as defeat Quirrel and Voldemort and Destroy the stone.

2- in the second year Emerald found out that she, like Harry, was a parcel mouth which meant she could talk to snakes. And with her mother being Bellatrix Le'Strange there was much suspicion about her being the person to open the chamber of secrets though she actually helped harry and Ron into the chamber while she was looking for the ghost called Moaning Myrtle to comfort her after being called a cry-baby.

3- people finally stopped being prejudiced about her parents as they got to know Emerald. She also devolved a closer friend-ship with people such as Harry, Hermione, Ron, Neville, and Cho Chang. Though once she discovered professor Lupin was a were-wolf she confronted him and ended up being the one who had told Sirius Black the password to Gryffindor Tower which she did not know had changed that week. She also tried to protect Sirius and Lupin in the shrieking shack when Harry tried to kill them thinking that Sirius was the man who had given his parents hiding place to Voldemort when it in fact had been Peter Pettigrew.

4- She and Neville had assisted Harry during the Triwizard Tournament and went to the Yule Ball with a man from Durmstrang who was called Adolph. She had also been called to grave-yard and imprisoned by Voldemort yet she would have died like Cedric if Harry were not there protect her.
