Everything I Didn't Say

All my life I've been bullied by Luke Hemmings and his friend group. I don't know why, and quite frankly I could care less. I could care less about him, his friends, or his social life. All I care about is my family. Family is everything to me. Since that's all I've ever had. But mess with my family, mess with me. What happens when the guy I thought I got away from in high school, becomes part of my new family? Read my story to find out..

10. Chapter 8

Luke's P.O.V

"You guys almost kissed?" Michael exclaims whilst sitting in fetal position on the couch.

"Well yeah. But that's the thing. We almost." I sigh. I can't help but replay that moment over in my head.

"What stopped her?"

I think for a moment. The way she looked at me. How she bit her lip as she studied my face. And the way the kept taking in deep breaths, almost as if she were smelling me. Then it's like something snapped and she realized that it was me she was about to kiss. "Me.. She despises me, there's no doubt about it, but you also can't deny that she felt something."

"I'll believe you on that one." Mike mumbles.

"I believe that she felt something too. She's on her roof right now. Looked like she was in a pretty serious state."

"She's on her roof?" I ask rushing to the window. Sure enough, she was on the tip top peak of the roof. It looked as if there was a crease in the spot where she was sitting, like she comes up there a lot. Was she thinking about me? Did she want me there? What would happen if I showed up.

"Don't go out there." Mike says, blocking the door as I'm about to go find an answer to my questions.

"And why not?" I retort, crossing my arms.

"She obviously wants to be alone. Why the hell do you think she's on the roof? I mean the roof of all places."

I sigh and mope back to the couch. Michael offers me the controller for FIFA. I roughly take it, trying to take my mind off of things. It doesn't help much. I'm usually almost as good as Michael when it comes to this game, but I just can't get Addy off my mind.

"Good morning, Luke!" Mum chirps from the kitchen.

"Morning." I groggily sit down at the bar line at the counter. "Say, we're not hanging with the Andersons today are we?"

"Not today. Rose and Marcus have to work. You know we really are lucky that they took us in and they treat us like their own family."

"Sure." I murmur. Regretfully, mum heard.

"We really are, Luke. Why do you say that?"

Once again I sigh. "I just- nothing. I just miss spending time with my mummy." I fakely smile. I couldn't tell her the real reason without giving it away that I knew Adeline before all of this. Just let the past be the past right?

No that's not the reason. The real reason why I pretend to not know her is because its too painful to remember all the horrible things I've done to her. Although she reminds me of it everyday, it feels better trying to make myself believe that I'm not that bad of a person. Plus mum would be disappointed in me. I hate upsetting her.

"Aw, Lukey. Well I'll be home from work later. Maybe we can have son and mummy time, yeah?"

"Yeah... See you later."

After about forever of just sitting around doing nothing all day, I start to look out the main window in the lounge, trying to see if Adeline was on the roof again. Ashton was at work. Calum was with Michael a some video game store out of town, and I had no way of getting there. So I'm pretty much alone for the day.

Vigorous knocking comes from the front door. "Yeah yeah, I'm coming, I'm coming." I grumble.

I open the door to Shelby. At first I thought she came over to flirt, but then I got a look at her face. It had shock and terror written all over it. "It's Adeline. She won't wake up."
