Everything I Didn't Say

All my life I've been bullied by Luke Hemmings and his friend group. I don't know why, and quite frankly I could care less. I could care less about him, his friends, or his social life. All I care about is my family. Family is everything to me. Since that's all I've ever had. But mess with my family, mess with me. What happens when the guy I thought I got away from in high school, becomes part of my new family? Read my story to find out..

3. Chapter 1

I shiver as soon as my cold feet touch the floor, but me being me, I'm to lazy to go put socks on. I glance at myself momentarily as I enter my washroom. I never look at myself for long; it makes me uncomfortable. I don't think I'll ever be able to look at myself with confidence after what I've endured all my life.

"Well good morning, Good Looking" Caleb chirps as I trudge my way downstairs.

"I don't think so." I sigh grabbing the remote from his hands.

"Just take a compliment for once."

"I don't believe in lies." I wink, as he frowns. "Where's Shelby?"

"At a friends house, I believe. And I wasn't telling a lie. With all due respect, your are a very pretty girl. Maybe if you get a friend that can tell you what I see from a different perspective, you'll see what I'm saying."

"Good talk, Caleb, but you, Shelby, mum, and dad, are all the friends I'll ever need." I respond. Although I love my family with all my heart, truthfully, it would be nice to have at least one friend. But as per usual, I don't deserve a friend; I ruin everything I touch.

"Addy, dear, I put your breakfast in the microwave." Mum informs me, pacing back and forth in front of the small framed mirror in our family room. When we got it I purposely hung it high, so I wouldn't be tempted to look in it.

Mum was in her casual attire for work: A solid tan blouse, with a matching pencil skirt, and matching flats. Sometimes heels. She works in an adoption agency as the person who places kids in better home than the one they obviously had to get taken out of, or she helps families who want to adopt a child. That's how we got Shelby. When she was younger, her parents gave her up because they couldn't take care of her, so she went into a home. As she grew older, she had to move around a lot because nobody would take her. Mum decided that she could help her have a better live, so we adopted her. Mum's always been a good caretaker.

"When's dad's coming home?" I ask, placing food in my mouth.

"Tonight actually. He finished the painting job earlier than he thought, so he'll be home tonight. As for me I'm off for work. I'll be back shortly, love." She quickly pecks my cheek, heading out.

Directly after I got done eating, Shelby had called Caleb to come pick her up, seeing as I'm socially awkward, nobody wants me around to ruin their social life. But Caleb has friends, unlike me, so I was stuck to pick her up.

"Hey Addy." Shelby smiles. "Guys this is my sister, Adeline."

"Er..Addy. Nice to meet you." I say, stupidly putting my hand out, but I guess people don't shake anymore.

"Your really pretty." One of the girls says.

'Not really, no.' I think to myself. "Uh thanks. You are..too?" I question rather than ask.

The girl gives me a look of uncertainty, which Shelby clues in on. "Yeah I'll call you tonight, bye guys." She waves them off, climbing into my small, red, Volkswagen.

"Really?" She cocks her head, annoyed.

"What?" I ask, knowing where this was going.

"Why do you have to be so socially awkward?"

"Geez, sorry to be an inconvenience to you." I roll my eyes, gripping the steering wheel.

"Whatever." She groans.

"Did you miss me?" Dad questions, excitedly.

"I did." I cheer in between mouthfuls.

"Your so gross." Caleb whispers/ groans.

"I have something to say." Mum dings her wine glass, which makes me laugh.

"So you know the neighboring house we own?" We all nod. "Well we have buyers. They're coming over tomorrow to start getting settled. Apparently her husband and her youngest son have been going through financial difficulties and this place is more affordable."

"Is the son hot? What are the names?" Shelby asks, making dad choke on his wine.

"I only met the mother. Liz is her name I think. Think of them as our new family that we'll be taking in under our wing. Make sure you make them feel at home."

Great so not only am I going to embarrass me, but my entire family. How much worse can it get?
