“I will bring the deeds to the shop tomorrow along with the keys.

“You shouldn’t have done that George, said Rose. You haven’t got that kind of money.”

“I have with my compensation from the Navy and what I won on the horses.”

“But George that is your money; I cannot take it I’m Sorry, go back and tell him.”

“No, I will not you said to me that you would like to start your own business, well now  you can; look if you feel bad about it then just call it a loan; you an pay me back when you are successful.”

“You know you have been more than kind to me George; I will never forget this ever.”

“Good now we have to get you some materials to work with and a sewing machine.

They walked down to the Spanish City where Cathy went on a few of the rides with her mother they ate a hamburger and chips from the stall then took a slow walk back up  from the Promenade they headed towards the train station. Cathy linked in with her mother as George carried her case for her. They got there tickets then waited for the train.

Have you got a drink Cathy for the train when you get to Newcastle?

“I have money that George gave me mammy, “I will get one in Newcastle.”

They boarded the train twenty minutes later then travelled to Newcastle central.

When they got there the train was in and it was departing in just ten minutes. George said Goodbye to Cathy and went to get a newspaper.

Cathy told her mam that she would be back as soon as she could arrange it with Amy Fox. She got onto the train after kissing her mother she sat near the window looking out as George returned with his news paper and stood until the train started moving slowly away. Rose kept on waving until she could no longer see Cathy.

George put a comforting arm around her and they walked out of the station and made the journey back home.

“Do you think that she will come back?

“I don’t know George she says she will but once she is back in Scotland who knows.”

George and Rose took the bus back home. George had a quick glance at the racing results. Fire fly was beaten by a short head which still gave him a double at 100-1.

He then checked the dogs that he’d put on Black Shadow and Tangerine dream both won reverse forecast. George did a quick calculation in his head. He figured he’d won somewhere in the region of four thousand pounds.

He couldn’t wait to see the look on Mavis’s face when her husband would have to pay out.

George told Rose when he got off the bus and she nearly fell with shock. George Wilkinson you must be the luckiest man I know.”

“I sure am to have you he said; he kissed her in the street in front of his whole neighbourhood and he didn’t care a jot.

They were walking in the path when Mrs Best came out.

“Where’s the little one gone; “I see she’s not with you?”

“You’re right Mrs Best; there’s nothing wrong with your eye sight.”

George closed the gate then went inside.
