Turning on the water tap George began to water his crops. Cathy watered his tomatoes and other crops like peppers and cucumbers in the greenhouse.

When he was done he closed the gate then locked it up and the two of them headed back to the house.

Rose was preparing an early dinner. She had bought a joint of beef and was making roast potatoes in beef dripping, she par boiled them first before letting them stand for ten minutes then added them in with the roast beef. Rose made one huge Yorkshire pudding; with cabbage, carrots, turnip, and peas. She made gravy with the meat juices from the beef and thickened it with some corn flour and milk.

After dinner they Jumped onto a bus and went to Whitley Bay as they went through Tynemouth George pointed out places of interest like the open air Swimming pool. “The Plaza and St Georges Church. Cathy took her case with her so they could get the train from Whitley Bay to Newcastle so that Cathy could return to Scotland.

They passed the amusement arcade in Cullercoats then the bus drove through Whitley bay town centre.

“Look George Rose pointed out there’s a shop and empty. They got off at the next stop and walked back on themselves. Rose was right there was a shop and it was in a good spot too. Rose wrote down the number then went to the phone booth on the corner of Station Road. She dialled the number and waited. When it answered she asked if she could have a look inside the shop and the gentle man said he would come straight along.

A car pulled up shortly after and a small man got out he was wearing a pair of brown flares and high platform shoes so Rose reckoned he was only about five feet tall. He had a comb over hairstyle and black rimmed jam jar glasses.

“Hello I’m the owner of the shop Michael Branson.

“Hello Mr Branson could we have a look inside please.

“Of course please follow me.”

Mr Branson opened the shop and they went inside it was just what Rose was looking for. “Could I ask what the shop used to be?

“Yes, it was a book store.”

“How much would the rent be for the shop?

“It would be eighty pounds per calendar month.

“How much would it be to buy the shop sir asked George?

“It is twelve thousand pounds sir.”

“Could we do a deal Mr Branson?

“Would you take ten thousand pounds cash?

The small man scratched his head and where he scratched exposed his bald pate.

“I don’t know Sir, two thousand pounds is a lot of money. “

“Yes and so is ten thousand.”

“I know this shop has been closed for over two years now because you see I used to buy books from here.”

“Alright then said Mr Branson, ten thousand pounds cash.

“I will bring it here tomorrow.”

“The little man thrust out his hand and George shook it.
