“No Andy we have to stay put in case Amy Fox rings us.

After spending the night at the Adelphi Hotel Irene and Bobby woke up in the same bed together. Irene was naked and reached for her top and knickers’ before going to the on suite bathroom and taking a shower. Bobby sat with his arms behind his head

When she came out George asked if she had any regrets about last night to which she replied none what so ever. In fact Bobby was a gentle considerate lover unlike her late husband who only ever considered his own ends and wanted to get it over as quickly as possible which left her feeling frustrated, even used at times. Bobby made her feel like a woman again, she felt alive, valued and what is more, she felt loved for the very first time in her life. When she and Jimmy got together it was more out of desperation than love. She had a bad home life with her father and mother.

Her father was an alcoholic who spent nearly all his money in the “Rat or the “Garrick’s Head.”

He was loud and battered her mother around. If it were not for her mother she and her brother would not have got a thing for Christmas or birthdays. So when Jimmy was thrust upon her by a friend they started going out then it wasn’t long before he popped the question. There was a quick marriage in the registry office; no reception to speak of because neither family had any money.

On their wedding night which was spent at his parent’s house because they had no home of their own and had to live in. They waited six months to get on the housing list.

Irene was sick of Jimmy’s father who burst into the bathroom every time she was having a bath. Jimmy just laughed it off but Irene felt degraded. When they did get a house Jimmy was never one for DIY jobs and everything was left to her to do. He was like his father in a lot of ways and as for making love well; he just jumped on her when he felt like it; she thanked god it was over quickly. That was one small mercy until Mollie came along and he became more and more distant until he ended up with Katie Flynn.

Bobby was so different; he was a man of prospects, hard working, loving, and more so, he loved both her and Mollie. When she came out of the bathroom she flashed a smile at Bobby.

“Enjoy your shower?

“Yes, it’s the first time I’ve ever had one in a hotel”

“I have one in every room in my house we could drive down there today if you wish.

“What about Mollie?

“Well we could go and fetch her or we could just go ourselves; “Colin will take care of her.”

“She will be feeding the animals knowing her said Irene.”

“So what’s it to be?

“Alright I will go with you Give me half an hour so I can order breakfast then have a quick shower. Bobby picked up the phone in the bedroom and was put through to reception.
