“Why howdy cowboy said Irene as she saw Bobby coming out of the farm house.”

“Are you ready for the grand tour then?

“Yes! Shouted Mollie; can we see the ponies first Mr Ross?

“We need carrots first said Bobby.”

Bobby ran to the store room and brought out a bag of carrots and apples.

“Come on then said Bobby as he led them to the stables where there were several horses was tethered.

“Now Mollie when you feed an animal you have to keep your hand flat like this; then you place the apple in your palm; Bobby showed her then hold out your hand so the horse can nibble it. Don’t lift your fingers or you will get bitten.

Mollie did as Bobby had shown her and the horse took the apple from her hand. The horse nodded its head in appreciation then popped its head over the stable gate for another treat.

“Come on Mollie we have more horses here.” Mollie fed each horse in turn until she came to the last stall she couldn’t see over the door but could hear the horse from behind. Bobby winked at Irene as he opened the stable door and there in the corner was a piebald pony.

“Oh look at that mam; isn‘t she lovely?

“This is Bella; come in she won’t bite you. Mollie walked into the stable and stroked the little pony.

“She is beautiful; Mollie took an Apple from the bag and held her hand flat under Bella’s mouth. The pony took the apple then searched Mollie for more. It searched her hands then her pockets then it put its head over her shoulder and whinnied until Molly gave her another apple.

“I wish I had a pony like Bella mam.”

“Well if you are a good girl; tomorrow I will let you ride her.

“I will be good Mr Ross; please can I ride her?

“You had better ask your mum first.

“Can I mam; can I ride Bella?

“We will see Mollie.”

“Why is she called Bella asked Mollie; is that the name of your mam?

“No, no, Bobby laughed. Bella means beautiful in Italian.”

“I am going to learn Italian when I grow up.

She walked around the stable calling out Bella’s name.

“Have you ever been to Italy Irene?

“Are you kidding me? The furthest my husband ever took me and Mollie was bloody Tynemouth boating lake.

“Well we will have to change all that won’t we. Tomorrow we will get you both a passport.

“Bobby. I can’t keep taking off you like this.”

“Why not, I have money and it’s made for spending?

“Because it isn’t right and you know what happened with your wife; I don’t want to be like her Bobby, Your money is unimportant to me; I am happy working as a fish wife.”
