Everything Will Be Alright

Each day she

would do her chant for me,

and I would listen.

"Just skip dinner -

you'll wake up thinner.

Everything will be alright."

1. Everything Will Be Alright

I was in a class called gym

I noticed my stomach was like rim,

different than anyone else.

It didn't bother me at first,

but I got a thirst

to be different on the outside.

I tried to do it right,

but it was a fight,

and I felt I couldn't win.

This went on for days

I was in a haze,

but that is when I heard her:

"Just skip dinner -

you'll wake up thinner.

Everything will be alright."

At first, I had not trust,

but my attention became a must

I did wake up thinner.

She seemed like a friend.

(well not at the end)

All of her tricks did work.

Each day I saw

approving looks, imaginary applause.

I was doing well.

Sure my stomach growled.

If my parents had prowled,

they would have seen it.

Each day she

would do her chant for me,

and I would listen.

"Just skip dinner -

you'll wake up thinner.

Everything will be alright."

Soon, however,

losing weight became a never,

and I had to go further.

I didn't eat.

The plan was concrete.

Just the end I didn't know.

When I could lose no more

I would implore

for her to tell me how.

She told me she knew a way

to take the pain a way,

and so I did it.

I pulled the belt up high,

took a peek at the sky,

and let her take the pain away

I would suggest to you

that you think things through

and

Don't skip dinner -

you wake up thinner,

but everything won't be alright.
