But I'm only human..

'His hand brushed down against the skin on my face. The warm air around us felt nice, but at the same time my thoughts were burying me into the warm depths of hell. "It'll be ok." He said, reluctantly smiling at me. But sweet Jesus, no it wouldn't.'

7. 7

I stood from my bed and descended the stairs; whoever was at my door was obviously impatient. I opened it to a crack, unsure of whom may be awaiting outside.

'Soph, I'm moving.' Not even a hello. My heart sank as Luke's eyes began to water up. I gestured for him to come in, and we took seats in the living room. The purple walls seemed to bed us in, but the dark brown curtains kept out all light. The bulb above was useless, it was dark and not working properly.

'So, um, where you moving to?' I asked nervously, unsure I wanted to know the answer.

Luke stared at a spot on the floor, unable to speak. I patted his knee, trying to reassure him. It would be ok, surely?

'Cape Town.' He finally spoke, spat it out as if it was a swear.

My mind went blank for a few seconds, unable to relate Cape Town to anything I'd heard of before.

'South Africa.' He spoke again, more gently, sorrowful.

'Oh.. My...' Was all I could speak out. He was going. For good.

I laid my head upon his lap, holding his hand. An hour or two passed, in utter silence. At one point, I felt a droplet of water on my arm, almost certainly his tears. But he was going, and there was nothing anyone could do about that.

His father had got a job, down on a game reserve in the Cape. It would be the complete opposite of England, nearly half way around the world. I couldn't, wouldn't, bring myself to answer when he spoke, as it was painful. I loved him.

Again came knocks at the door, but this time it couldn't be Luke. He'd just gone back home, and it wouldn't be possible for him to get back round so quickly.

I stretched my arms out and pushed myself up from the sofa, took a glance out of the partially opened curtain. It was Thomas, the boy who lived next door. He didn't look happy, nor angry, nor upset. His face was rather unreadable, but he was desperate to get someone's attention.

I finally opened the door, a burst of delight appearing upon his face.

'Sorry about Mia, she's a bit.. Fragile at the moment.' I was so confused, the expression probably visible on my face.

'Um, what? Mia who?' I hadn't yet related to the message.

He explained that Mia, his ex, had found out about the other night, and she wasn't happy. I invited the boy inside, due to pure confusion. The other night? What was that about?

'Don't you remember?' He asked, a hint of anger in his voice.

'No... Not at all. Sorry.'

'The party? The fact I invited you into my house after you appeared on my drive, and you know, did stuff?'

Bloody hell. Not again. Was I seriously that much of a slut?

'Get to the point. Did we.. Sleep together? Or not?' I was not in the mood for this. Luke leaving. Myself sleeping with every lad in town. My neighbours ex girlfriend probably wanting me dead.

This was not good.
